Buy Remnant: From the Ashes On Sale And Support CMN Hospitals

I’ve mentioned a few times that Remnant: From the Ashes – read the review here – was one of my favourite games this gen and now they’re supporting one of my favourite causes: the Children’s Miracle Network.

Way back in July of 2015 my youngest daughter Emily, our baby at the time, had been sick off and on for a week or so. She had a summer cold, then a touch of the flu – and while it was out of the norm for her, it’s not that unusual to have a kid recover from one sickness only to get another.

Only it lingered and got worse. On the 25th, we decided that’s it, she has to go to the hospital to get checked out, so her mom took her in while I got the other kids to bed. Hours later I was woken up to a call with the news that STARS Air Ambulance would be coming to get her and transport her to the University Hospital in Edmonton.

The next few days were brutal. She was prepped for intubation at one point, a decision we were forced to make on the advice that it would be easier on her and better for her if they did it before she crashed, only to have her recover enough that the doctors decided to hold off.

We spent most of the eventual week-long stay with no idea what was wrong with her. Round the clock differential diagnosis was being done, with the job complicated as new problems spread across her systems as time went on. She had lines tapped into her arms, then her neck, and within a day she was barely recognizable as the lively little girl I loved so much.

The doctors and nurses at the hospital were amazing and, in the end, they were able to isolate and treat the core problem that had started the dominos falling. It’s something I’ll never forget, and it’s exactly the reason these facilities exist.

You never want to need them, but they absolutely have to be there if you do. I know deep down that we wouldn’t still have Emily if we hadn’t had that kind of care available to us. And you can help make sure that’s available to you, and get a pretty amazing game for 50% off to boot.
