Focus Home Interactive (FHI) and Deck13 Interactive GmbH have worked together on a few titles over the past few years, so it makes sense that FHI would finally put a ring on it and lock that studio down. With today’s announcement that FHI has acquired 100% of Deck13 for €7.1 million – just shy of $11 million Canadian – they’ve done just that.

Deck13 created a solid new IP with The Surge, a franchise that’s now seen a pair of games in addition to multiple downloadable content releases. With a new financial backstop in place thanks to this deal, it will be interesting to see if they go back to The Surge for a third release or branch off into something new.
