I’ve never been really interested in watching an entire NASCAR race, though the highlights are fascinating, but playing the games? That’s another thing entirely.
The games have always been a lot more gripping, but that’s probably true of any of the sports games – it’s generally more fun to actively play it than it is to just watch, at least in my experience, and if you can’t go out and golf/race/drive/swim…then the gaming version is a passable alternative.
NASCAR Heat 5 looks like it’s coming out swinging with a ton of tracks, split-screen support, and up to 40 racers duking it out online – plus the franchise’s deepest ever Career mode!

The Gold Edition provides players with tons of exclusive content featuring NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart, the NASCAR Heat 5 Season Pass (containing four DLC packs), and in-game cash to kick-start your team. The game’s Standard Edition will be available on Friday, July 10, for $49.99.

The NASCAR Heat video game franchise powers the first-ever NASCAR esports league on consoles: the eNASCAR Heat Pro League. The league features 28 of the best players representing real-life NASCAR teams like Hendrick Motorsports GC, Team Penske eSports, Gibbs Gaming, and more competing for a prize pool of over $200,000.
