'Pokémon Sword' and 'Pokémon Shield' Smash Sales Records
Nintendo of America has another Pokémon hit on their hands with Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield shattering sales records.
The game sold over two million copies in the first two days on sale in the U.S. alone, making it the highest-grossing launch for any Pokémon game. Canadians obviously love their Pokémon as well, though, as the games also set a new high-water mark as the highest-grossing launch of any Pokémon in Canada.
As with most Pokémon games, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield task players with catching, trading, and battling Pokémon, this time in the Galar region. The game also features four-player local or online co-op play (Nintendo Switch Online required for online play), which should help keep players active and generate long-tail sales.
