Steven Universe and Brawlhalla Collide
My kids are a big fan of Ubisoft’s Brawlhalla, a free-to-play platform fighting game that’s easy to pick up but with an incredibly deep combat system to abuse once you get the hang of it. They’re also giant fans of Steven Universe, a Cartoon Network show about an unlikely hero named Steven and his friends, who are magical aliens called the Crystal Gems.
It makes more sense if you watch it, trust me…
Following in the vein of earlier crossovers with WWE stars, Brawlhalla will now be host to appearances by the Crystal Gems as Steven Universe collides with Brawlhalla today! Gamers can play as Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Stevonnie in the regular game or in a new Bubble Tag mode.
We’ll be checking this out for sure, and if you have kids who love Steven Universe, be sure to grab Brawlhalla – it’s available free on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC – and give it a shot. It’s a blast in same-screen co-op/competitive play.
Here’s the press release:
Play as Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe Gems Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, and Stevonnie In Brawlhalla® as Epic Crossovers Today
Montreal — December 4, 2019 — Today, Ubisoft announced that Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Stevonnie from Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe are warping into battle in Brawlhalla® as Epic Crossovers. Players can now play as the four Crystal Gems to save the day in a special Steven Universe in-game event that kicks off today through December 18. The in-game event features a new Bubble Tag game mode, a new KO effect featuring Malachite, bonus daily login gold and a main menu takeover.
The Steven Universe Epic Crossovers mirror existing Brawlhalla Legends, but follow a funky flow with completely unique visual designs that include a new style for their signature powers, new custom select animations, new sound design and more. Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl and Stevonnie will defend the halls of Valhalla from corrupted gems and continue to be offered in the in-game store after the event. They can be purchased for 300 Mammoth coins each.
Garnet – An Epic Crossover for Petra, she is gem fusion made from a true kind of love. Garnet is “stronger than you” with signature attacks that use her rocket gauntlets and energy blasts.
Amethyst – Amethyst mirrors Xull. An independent spirit and loyal friend, Amethyst arrives with signature attacks that use her whips as traps and grabs, plus her Purple Puma form!
Pearl – This Epic Crossover mirrors Brawlhalla Legend Kaya, with signature attacks Holo-Pearl and Holo-Rose Quartz. She uses her spear and bow to make players strong in the real way.
Stevonnie – Not two people, not one person, but an experience, Stevonnie mirrors Brawlhalla legend Val with signature attacks that summons their magical pink lion and bubble shield. Let’s jam!
Bubble Tag: the new Steven Universe–themed game mode
Battle like the Crystal Gems! The Steven Universe game mode places Legends in teams of three to square off against each other in a game of Bubble Tag. In this game mode, players earn a point each time they capture the entire enemy team in Gem Bubbles. To trap enemies in Gem Bubbles, players will strike opponents, and enemies in Gem Bubbles have their attacks blocked and have limited movement. If their teammates are in Gem Bubbles, players can free them by tagging them.
