IO Interactive Reveals Final HITMAN 3 Locations

With just nine days until the launch of HITMAN 3, IO Interactive has unveiled the rest of the game’s six locations. Agent 47’s globetrotting murder parade will span three continents in the new game, let’s see what they are.

First up is Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. Agent 47 will explore the inner and outer workings of the newest Dubai attraction: the world’s tallest building.

I imagine someone’s going for a fall…

Next up is Dartmoor in the United Kingdom, where 47 will infiltrate the police force as they investigate a murder at Thornbridge Manor. Taking on the role of a detective, players can choose to solve the murder or eliminate their target or maybe even both?

Whatever you decide, next up is a trip to the land of beer and pretzels: Germany! Expect to see a lot of Berlin’s night life, though how much you leave alive is – as always – entirely up to you.

With the game half-over, it’s time to head to the Far East and Chongqing, China. This megacity is jammed with lights, colours, and people – all things that make it harder for someone looking to be stealthy…

Trading out the urban environment for a far more rural vista, Agent 47 heads to South America next to explore Mendoza, Argentina. Vineyards provide a lot of cover, and there’s no end to the wine…

Rounding things out is a trip to Romania, where Agent 47 will wrap up the game in the Carpathian Mountains. After HITMAN 2 ended on a huge revelation it’ll be interesting to see if this new iteration wraps up a bit more neatly…

HITMAN 3 will be available on 20 January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. HITMAN 3 will also be coming to Nintendo Switch, playable via cloud streaming technology.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Episode 3 Hits September 15

With the news about Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 getting a massive update in mid-September, you might start to wonder how Ubisoft is getting all this done during a pandemic…but hold onto your butts because there’s still MORE to come in the form of a massive Episode 3 update to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

The update, Episode 3 for those scoring along at home, hits September 15th and brings a new story adventure, a new class, and PVP tweaks.

The story has gamers going after the mastermind behind a plan to unleash attacks on American soil. Witha branching storyline and optional mission objectives, this should offer both ‘do it your way’ gameplay and some replay value. Owners of the Year 1 Pass have full access to the 10 mission pack, while those without the pass can play two missions before deciding if they want to buy it.

The new class is called Pathfinder, which has access to some pretty killer passive skills allowing them to spot hidden caches, thermal vision to spot enemies, and a metabolism that makes ration effects be more powerful and longer lasting.

In my review I thought the game needed some updates back when it first released, so maybe I should jump in again to see how it plays after Ghost Recon Episode 3 hits.

Here’s the full press release:

TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON® BREAKPOINT EPISODE 3 IS COMING SEPTEMBER 15 WITH A NEW ADVENTURE, NEW CLASS AND PVP UPDATES

Episode 3: Red Patriot Adventure Brings Exclusive Rewards

Montreal  September 10, 2020 — Today, during Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint will release Title Update 3.0.0 on September 15 on PlayStation®4, the Xbox One family of consoles and Windows PC, as well as on Stadia and UPLAY+, the Ubisoft subscription service.* The update will feature the new adventure: Red Patriot. You will also discover a new class: the Pathfinder, as well as new PVP maps. A live event will also be available later during this new episode.

Title Update 3.0 of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will include:

  • A new story Adventure: Red Patriot begins when Trey Stone asks Raven’s Rock, a Russian separatist group and their agents, the Bodarks, to plan attacks on US soil. Nomad is assigned a simple mission: take down everyone involved in Stone’s plan and the Bodarks. The Adventure will offer a branching storyline and optional mission objectives for a diversity of approaches. All players will get access to two free missions and can purchase the full adventure afterward, but Year 1 Pass owners can play the adventure’s 10 missions in full. Upon completing missions, players will unlock 26 high-quality rewards.
  • A new class with one-week exclusivity for Year One pass owners starting September 15.
    • Pathfinder class lets player control a rogue Azraёl drone through their special ability, the Armaros Interface. Their special tool, the Uplink Protocol, refills the Pathfinder skill gauge and is only found in well-hidden tactical caches with other high-quality loot. Pathfinders’ passive skills include: Tactical Cache Identification, which allows them to highlight caches; Scout Vision, which allows for white-hot thermal vision; and Wild Metabolism, which allows for ration effects to last longer and to be more powerful.
  • PVP updates, including a new map, three new missions and a Pathfinder class adaptation. The new PvP milestone missions are related to the Pathfinder class and offer two exclusive rewards for completing achievements.

The Title Update 3.0 also adds 65 new items in Maria’s shop including weapons, bundles, vehicles and more.

Free Update Adds New Character to Children of Morta

Children of Morta getting a free update is news, but not unexpected – it’s had a couple of updates since launch. A new character? Ok, that’s certainly more newsworthy but plenty of games do that.

How about a new character that was designed by two of the game’s Kickstarter backers?

Well now you’ve got something…

I think it’s awesome that not only did they make a character that fills a need, but they changed the backstory of the character from ‘standard videogame fare’ of being an orphan to something that fit the game’s lore more.

Here’s the press release – jump into Children of Morta today to check out Apan for yourself:

Children of Morta Adds New Playable Character, Apan, Designed by Two of the Game’s Kickstarter Backers

The Bergsons’ House free update invites a new sister-in-arms — a mighty medic and firm defender rolled in one — into the family

Warsaw, Poland – June 24, 2020 — Children of Morta is an action-RPG all about the bonds of the courageous Bergson family, but that doesn’t mean the Bergsons’ home is a place where fellow adventurers aren’t heartily welcomed. 11 bit studios and Dead Mage are proud to present another free update to their indie hit, introducing Apan – a seventh playable character joining the party.

Apan – known as Clan Mother in her homeland – came from the far north of Mount Morta. She is as skilled in providing vital support for companions on the battlefield as she is in wielding a sturdy staff. Her weapon’s reach makes Apan perfect for delivering deadly mid-range strikes, her special Asva Pulse dash ability leaves opponents hindered in the dust, and her spells cover a large area of effect. In defence, all of the Bergsons can take advantage of Apan’s medical knowledge as she also boosts the effects of healing potions, and a new mechanic lets the family gain shields from items, abilities, and Apan’s Rage skill. Simply put, Apan’s presence makes them all stronger, especially in battle.

The exciting new character design was created by one of Children of Morta’s Kickstarter backers and his partner, who both believed in the project since its very early stages. Here’s what these backers – known as AgaRar and GlueBubble – had to say about the idea that inspired the Apan’s creation, “The idea for Apan came from the brainstorming of myself and my partner. We originally made her an orphan, but later changed her to a mother to better compliment the Children of Morta story and family theme. A strong leader of nomadic healers who allies herself with the Bergsons to aid them in their fight against Corruption. We hope that our inspiration, and Dead Mage’s hard work, translates into a character that you all will enjoy for years to come.”.

The Bergsons’ House free update is available on all platforms: Xbox One, PC (Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store), PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The free update contains:

  • A brand-new character with a unique skillset designed to play in single-player, but also shine in co-op playthroughs
  • Special shielding skills and passive healing mechanics
  • 32 new Apan-specific Runes
  • 9 new story cutscenes
  • A few HUD and UI tweaks
  • Additional bug fixes

Canadian game 'A Fold Apart' Hits Apple Arcade, Switch, and PC April 17th

Guelph, Ontario’s Lightning Rod Games is bringing their new paper-folding puzzle game A Fold Apart to Apple Arcade, the Nintendo Switch, and Steam next week.
Launching April 17th, the game depicts a couple’s long-distance relationships and the struggles to get – and stay – on the same page despite the distance.
Here’s the press release:

‘A Fold Apart’ is Launching April 17

A poignant story about a long-distance relationship, love, and the technology that connects us all.

Ontario, Canada – April 9, 2020 – Lightning Rod Games announced today that their paper-folding puzzle game A Fold Apart will release next week, April 17, 2020 on Apple Arcade for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV, and Mac alongside Nintendo Switch and Windows via Steam.
An interactive, narrative-driven puzzle displaying the emotional ups and downs of a couple’s long-distance relationship, A Fold Apart offers a beautiful acknowledgment of both the challenges and wonder that come from how we communicate with loved ones while living apart. The launch trailer reveals a familiar yet unique gameplay mechanic — flipping and folding paper — to bring the couple closer together over the course of their everyday lives.
“When we first started developing A Fold Apart in 2015, my goal was to tell a touching story about the romantic, sentimental, but fundamentally lonely feelings that my significant other and I experienced while living apart,” explains Lightning Rod Games Co-founder Mark Laframboise.
“We never would have imagined that we’d be releasing the game in an environment where nearly all of us around the world are physically separated from loved ones and experiencing that loneliness firsthand. Whether you are self-isolating, distance learning, telecommuting, or keeping in touch online, we are all in one form of long-distance relationship or another. Creating A Fold Apart was a way for me to navigate those difficult emotions and I hope that the game can help others find some hope and comfort (and, most importantly, fun!) in these challenging times as well.”
A Fold Apart features over fifty handcrafted paper-folding puzzles — in fact, the very first versions of these puzzles were made with simple grid paper and stored in a binder — in a colourful, tactile paper aesthetic. Choose which couple to play as, and unfold both sides of their story as they navigate the complexities of (mis)communication and the emotional rollercoaster that separation brings.
In a world of folding paper, there are two sides to every story. Discover yours on April 17.

I’ve played a bit of Terraria and I have to admit that I could have used that intro to the game’s systems back when I started. With thousands of items to craft, the game can be fairly overwhelming at first.

Review: Moons of Madness

There are probably people out there who have had worse times on Mars than Shane Newehart –Schwarzenegger in Total Recall or Matt Damon in The Martian for example – but by the end of Moons of Madness you’ll have to admit his experience ranks right up there.

Newehart is an engineer for Orochi, a space exploration company that needed his expertise on their Mars research outpost. What the poor sap doesn’t know going into this trip is that the outpost is a front for a program to find the source of a message coming from the planet.

At the outset, Newehart’s job eases players into both the game’s controls and the outpost’s layout as he goes about his day to day work. Replacing batteries and doing on the spot repairs isn’t glamorous or even necessarily fun, but it does a great job of introducing the player to the world and cementing the atmosphere.

And, of course, it soon goes downhill – way downhill.

The game’s environment is, as you’d expect from a research outpost, clinical and sterile at first but soon gives way to a truly Lovecraftian mess of tentacles and weird ooze, and it’s at this point that your early busywork pays dividends. Even though the environment is much more hostile, knowing the layout really helps when you’re – for example – fleeing from danger, should that sort of thing happen…

Don’t get the wrong idea here though, this is not a combat-heavy game and it owes more to walking sims than it does something like Doom Eternal. There are moments here and there where you’ll be tested, but most of the game is exploring, puzzling your way through obstacles, and trying to piece together the underlying story.

Moons of Madness is a bit short, running around six hours to complete, but if you love exploring you can run it up a bit more than that just playing around with the wealth of interactive objects. A personal favourite – the coffee machine that allows you to fill and drink as many cups as you’d like. This isn’t a truly scary game as the atmosphere is intense, but the enemies aren’t threatening enough, though there are some terror-filled chases that help keep the adrenaline flowing.

What I loved:

  • great level design
  • solid story
  • amazing atmosphere

What I didn’t like:

  • Some performance issues
  • Irregular pacing
  • A tad short
