Control’s AWE Expansion Launches August 27th

Control was one of the best action games of last year and now, a year after it released, it will be receiving its final expansion pack. The expansion tasks new Bureau Director Jesse Faden with reclaiming the Investigations Sector of the Oldest House – the location the Bureau uses to investigate Altered World Events.

The new DLC starts at the end of the game’s campaign – you’ll need to finish it in order to start the AWE expansion up – and features Alan Wake, the star of a classic Remedy title that shares his name, as well as a heap of creepy imagery if the trailer is anything to go by. Expect to see a ton of gamers sharing screenshots when this releases, as they put the game’s built-in photomode to use.

Here’s the press release:

Remnant: From the Ashes’ Final DLC Arrives August 20th

Remnant: From the Ashes is a really underrated game, even with all the positive reviews it got when it launched in late 2019. The shooter was the complete package at launch and it’s only gotten better with updates and a slew of post-release downloadable content (DLC), but all good things come to an end.

For Remnant’s premium DLC, that end is ‘Subject 2923’ – hitting console and PC August 20th, and bringing with it an all-new campaign mode that wraps up the storyline.

Personally I’m hoping they leave some things unanswered because I’m going to need a next-gen sequel…

In addition to that storyline content, gamers will also be able to explore a pair of new zones with all-new quests, bosses, weapons, trinkets, armour sets… Gunfire Games isn’t holding anything back on this one.

Here’s the press release – see you in the wastelands.

Remnant: From the Ashes DLC ‘Swamps of Corsus’ Now Available

Remnant: From the Ashes was one of my favourite games from last year, and it’s a gift that keeps on giving with regular updates and DLC. The latest, Swamps of Corsus, just hit Playstation 4 and Xbox One – so it’s time to jump back into that desolate world to check out what’s new!

The biggest addition is an all-new Survival Mode with roguelike elements that tasks players with surviving as long as they can after starting with nothing, but that’s not all that’s new in the world of Corsus…

Here’s the press release:

REMNANT: FROM THE ASHES – SWAMPS OF CORSUS DLC NOW AVAILABLE ON XBOX ONE and PLAYSTATION®4

Perfect World Entertainment and Gunfire Games today announced Swamps of Corsus, the latest premium DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes, is now available on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 for $9.99. In addition, a bundle including the Remnant: From the Ashes base game and Swamps of Corsus DLC is out now for $44.99 on consoles. Swamps of Corsus delivers the brand-new, rogue-like “Survival Mode” that has players start with nothing and fight for survival, along with an upgraded version of the world of Corsus that has a swarm of new content, including new bosses, new events and new quests.

About Remnant: From the AshesSwamps of Corsus

With this new DLC, players can experience a brand-new rogue-like game mode with “Survival Mode” and fight for their lives in a revamped Corsus zone exclusively in Adventure Mode. The new mode thrusts players into a completely randomized permadeath experience that challenges them to progress as far as they can in one life. Players start at the Labyrinth with nothing but a Repeater Pistol, a few consumables and a handful of scrap, where they begin their journey randomly through corrupted World Stones to various biomes and fight for survival against hordes of enemies that get stronger with each stage. Those brave enough to take on this intense challenge have the chance of earning epic rewards, such as new weapons – like the Hero’s Sword that unleashes a powerful wave attack – and new armor, including the Carapace Armor that reduces damage when equipped.

In the upgraded Corsus zone accessible through Adventure Mode, the Cult of Iskal has claimed the swamps for themselves. However, all hope is not lost for players, as a lone holdout remains, out of reach of the Iskal’s grasp. To change the future of Corsus, players must confront the Queen and stop the Iskal once and for all – or choose to help her complete the Iskal’s plan. Exploring Corsus in Adventure Mode gives players the chance to earn unique rewards – including three powerful weapons – by overcoming various challenges in the form of deadly overworld enemies, four side dungeons and two epic bosses, like the menacing Barbed Terror.

Below is a detailed list of features for Swamps of Corsus:

  • New Mode – Survival: Players fight for their lives as they begin their journey with nothing but a pistol, some scrap and the skin on their back in this new rogue-like game mode! Those brave enough will travel randomly through corrupted World Stones to different biomes, scrap-up gear, fight insanely-difficult bosses and test their endurance.
  • The Iskal Rise – The swamps of Corsus swarm with new content! Players will discover a plethora of new content in Corsus, including a new zone, new bosses, new stories, new events, new quests, and more.
  • Lock & Load – Adventurers will collect new items, new armor, new weapons, new mods and new traits.
  • Armor Skins – By defeating bosses in Survival Mode, or the Hard and Nightmare difficulties in Campaign and Adventure Mode, players earn Glowing Shards which can be used to purchase alternate armor skins for every piece of armor available in the game.

Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monstrous creatures. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you set out alone or alongside up to two other players to face down hordes of deadly enemies and epic bosses, and try to carve a foothold, rebuild, and then retake what was lost.

Remnant: From the Ashes is available digitally for $39.99 on PC (Steam), Xbox One and PlayStation®4. The physical version is also available now at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, among other retailers for PC, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One for $39.99.

Review – Moonlighter: Between Dimensions

Moonlighter was a solid, if somewhat under-appreciated game that explored the background elements of “normal” games – you not only did the exploring and adventuring, but you also sold off all that gear in your shop. A rather large portion of the game was spent in your shop, haggling with customers, and stopping shoplifters. You not only had to worry about building your power level to get into the more lucrative parts of the dungeons, you also had to make sure your shop was set up to sell off that high-end gear.

So how do you expand on that with DLC? If you’re the team at Digital Sun you drop in a new dungeon, 10 new enemies, five new minibosses, a slew of new weapons, a new set of armour, trick weapons – new weapons that sport amazing abilities but also incredible drawbacks, new rings, new shop upgrades, new customers, new storylines and new thieves after your shop’s goods…

Trick weapons are probably my favourite part of the whole expansion, which says a lot because – again – this includes an all-new dungeon, five minibosses, and all kinds of other weapons and armour. The weapons aren’t the most powerful, but they’re the most fun to play around with thanks to their abilities. The morning star fires off an are of effect (AoE) attack with every third strike, while one of the bows shoots arrows that all explode in an AoE. These aren’t incredibly overpowered weapons though, because they require a payment of health every time you use them – not great for those of us who like to spam that attack button.

Continuing Ubisoft’s trend of strong post-launch support of their titles, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be receiving a sizable expansion ‘Warlords of New York’ on March 3rd. The downloadable content (DLC) adds a new storyline, tasking players with tracking down a former Agent now gone rogue, Aaron Keener.
If Keener’s skills weren’t enough, there’s also the environment working against you, as he’s based in lower Manhattan, a former Dark Zone that was recently hit hard by a hurricane, and his cadre of Rogue Agents who will have to be eliminated one by one to work your way through to Keener.
A prologue for the DLC is available with Episode 3 – Coney Island: The Hunt, available February 12 if you own the Year 1 pass, and February 19th for all players.
Here’s the press release:

Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 Warlords of New York Taking Agents on the Ultimate Manhunt Starting March 3

  • The Division 2’s narrative-driven expansion will bring players to a new devastated open world in South Manhattan.
  • Starting tomorrow, players can experience the prologue with Episode 3 – Coney Island: The Hunt, available free on February 12 for Year 1 pass holders, February 19 for all The Division 2 players.

Montreal — February 11, 2020 — Today, Ubisoft announced Tom Clancy’s® The Division 2 Warlords of New York, a narrative-driven expansion in The Division 2, available on March 3, 2020 on the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Windows PC and UPLAY+*, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and its expansion will also launch on the new generation gaming platform, Stadia, later in March.

While current The Division 2 players can purchase the expansion on its own, new players can purchase the Standard Edition, which includes The Division 2 base game and The Division 2 Warlords of New York expansion. The Ultimate Edition, which gives players both the game and its expansion, as well as all of The Division 2’s Year 1 content, classified assignments and unlocked specializations, will also be available. All players must be at Level 30 and have reached World Tier 5 to join The Division 2 Warlords of New York. As such, each edition of the game will come with a Level 30 boost that players can activate if they wish to do so, to immediately jump into the New York expansion. After completing The Division 2 Warlords of New York campaign, Agents can then fast travel freely between Washington DC and New York City to enjoy the entire range of The Division 2’s content.

All players pre-purchasing** the expansion will be granted a free Level 30 boost that they can use at their discretion to jump their character to Level 30 in The Division 2, ahead of the expansion’s release.

A Narrative Expansion to Discover a New Area in New York City

In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Division Agents will go on the ultimate manhunt for Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent who has now gone rogue. Keener, along with his network of Rogue Agents, is now a major threat to the burgeoning rebirth of civilization. To track down Keener, Agents will roam the untamed living open world of Lower Manhattan; a former Dark Zone that was recently hit by a devastating hurricane that hit New York City harder than anywhere else in the US. Agents are tasked to explore new zones, each with iconic locations such as Two Bridges, Chinatown, and Wall Street. To get to Keener, players must take down each of his Rogue Agents.  Each Rogue Agent has their own unique back story and skill – which you gain once you take them down.

The Ultimate Vision of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York

After taking the time to hear and gather community feedback, core gameplay enhancements have been implemented across various topics such as build diversity, gear streamlining and even more meaningful loot.

Along with The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Title Update 8 will include an RPG overhaul, allowing players to better read and manage their gear inventory. The UI screen will be updated to always show the roll ranges for each stat on a piece of gear or weapon. The overhaul also includes the return of god rolls, improving readability and helping players make better decisions on the gear’s usefulness to their build. Additionally, players will see a more streamlined gear recalibration system, with item and stat usefulness indicators, as well as permanent attribute and stat storage at the recalibration station. This will allow Agents the flexibility to plan the perfect build.

The existing Dark Zones in The Division 2 are also being revitalized, returning to a simpler rogue mechanic. The focus is on rewarding player-to-player interaction, whether its fighting against each other or helping a fellow Agent against a tough Rogue player.

In The Division 2 Warlords of New York, the players’ level cap will increase from Level 30 to Level 40, but it doesn’t stop there. The Division 2 Warlords of New York is also introducing an infinite progression system, the SHD level, and 4 new skills that can be used throughout the game. Owners of the expansion will also get access to new gear and new weapons.

Introducing Seasons, including Leagues and the Return of Global Events

The expansion will also introduce a new post-launch philosophy: Seasons – a 3-month-long themed endgame event with a new main target and his network to track down, introducing them at a regular pace, each with their own stories and unique rewards. The first season begins one week after the release of The Division 2 Warlords of New York. In addition to the Seasonal Manhunt, Seasons will offer new in-game activities.  Leagues are a series of challenges for players with opportunities to unlock rewards based on players’ ability to complete such challenges.  Players will also see the return of Global Events, time-limited in game events during which a global modifier is applied to the entire game and players will be rewarded by completing specific tasks. During each Season, players will grow their Season level to unlock various rewards by participating in the various seasonal activities or even simply playing the game. Players interested in collecting additional rewards can acquire a Season Pass.
