Star Wars Squadrons Hits PC, PS4, Xbox One On October 2

Here’s some Monday morning excitement for the Star Wars fans out there, EA is dropping a Star Wars title this fall that looks a whole lot like the classic TIE Fighter games…

The game, Star Wars Squadrons, features a full single player campaign but I’d bet the meat and potatoes of this is going to be the 5 vs 5 multiplayer….in spaaaaaaaaaace.

That probably makes more sense if you watched a lot of The Muppet Show growing up.

The game also supports VR for PS4 and PC, and I’m curious how that’s going to feel. In the past VR titles with a lot of quick movement have had issues with motion sickness, so it’ll be interesting to see if they’ve hammered out that problem.

In Star Wars: Squadrons, players will enlist as starfighter pilots, stepping into the cockpits of iconic starfighters from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets. They’ll plan skirmishes with their squadron in the briefing room before taking off for space battles across the galaxy. Players will engage in strategic 5v5 multiplayer space battles with the goal of demolishing the opposing flagship in Fleet Battles and will feel the rush of first-person multiplayer combat as they work with their squadron to defeat as many opponents as possible in Dogfights. Pilots will triumph as a team, adjusting the composition of their squadrons to suit their playstyles as they progress, crushing their opponents and completing objectives across known and never-before-seen locations, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.

Star Wars: Squadrons will offer rich cosmetic and gameplay customization options with rewards and bonuses that are earned solely through gameplay. As players move up the ranks, they’ll earn components such as weapons, hulls, engines and shields to customize the performance of their starfighters; and gain cosmetic items to customize their cockpit, ship exteriors, and appearance of their pilot. In addition, players will be able to squad up with their friends and play against others, regardless of platform, as cross-play will be supported on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and VR.

Star Wars: Squadrons will also feature a single-player story that brings to life events following the Battle of Endor when the Rebel Alliance has successfully destroyed the Death Star II. Through the story, players will learn what it means to be a pilot as they battle from the alternating perspectives of two customizable pilots, one serving in the New Republic’s heroic Vanguard Squadron, while the other fights for the Galactic Empire’s fearsome Titan Squadron. The authentic story features a diverse cast of original characters, as well as some cameos from familiar faces in the Star Wars galaxy.

Star Wars: Squadrons is available now for pre-order* and lands on retail and digital storefronts on October 2 for $39.99. DwarfHeim Multiplayer Beta Signups Now Available

Do you like trailers that just keep getting better as they go on? Well check out this epic trailer for DwarfHeim, where the action and the narration continually ramp up until you just have to hit the ‘apply to beta’ button!

Battle For Bikini Bottom Rehydrated MP Trailer Highlights Horde Mode

It’s weirdly unsettling, but perfectly on point for 2020 thus far, that one of my most anticipated games of the year thus far is the remastered…sorry, ‘rehydrated’ version of SpongeBob SquarPants: Battle for Bikini Bottom. I can’t get over how good it looks, and I never even played the original.

THQ Nordic has turned the dial up just a bit more with the new multiplayer trailer that shows off a wave-based Horde mode for up to two players, either locally or online. I can’t lie, the constantly spawning red dots really brought back some memories of World of Warcraft raids from back in the day…

Monster Train Closed Beta Arrives in February

I really had no idea I liked roguelike deck-builders until I played Slay the Spire, but just as I finally wean myself off that game here comes Monster Train to pick up the slack.
Developed by Shiny Shoe and published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, Monster Train is a little different because you’re the bad guys – literally the forces of Hell, out to keep the last surviving Pyre burning and protect it from the forces of Heaven. Success means that Hell will burn once more, which seems like a bad thing but I guess that’s a matter of perspective…
With three play fields to defend, you’ll need to build a solid deck out of the 200 available cards and understand how to best deploy them in order to eliminate your enemies. There’s even an 8-player multiplayer mode when you’re tired of wiping out all those angels.
A closed beta will be firing up in February, so if the elevator pitch for the game appeals to you be sure to give that a shot.

Zhanhu's Gambit Limited-Time Event Now Playable in For Honor

Ubisoft’s For Honor franchise had a rocky start, but they’ve been steadfastly improving and expanding the game since its 2017 launch and have now committed to continued work in 2020 with an all new year’s worth of content.
This year’s content wraps up with the final Season 4 event, a Limited-Time Event (LTE) called Zhanhu’s Gambit, which opens today and runs until January 2nd. The LTE includes a new mode and a slew of customization items as rewards, including outfits, weapons, effects, emotes, and more.
As Season 4 comes to a close, Ubisoft has turned its attention to the content additions for 2020, which will again include four Seasons, and they’ll be bringing players two heroes (released in Season 2 and Season 4), and new armour sets. That will bring the roster to 28 combatants in total, but they’re also working on making sure balance isn’t an issue.
Labeled ‘Year of Reckoning’ I would expect the new year’s content to be…dramatic.

Escape With The Emperor In For Honor®’s Final Season 4 Event ‘Zhanhu’s Gambit’, Playable Now Until January 2 

New Seasonal Event Brings Limited-Time Game Mode, New Customization Items and More

MONTREAL — December 19, 2019 — Today, Ubisoft announced that the final Year 3 seasonal event for For Honor®, Zhanhu’s Gambit, is playable now until January 2 across all available platforms. Zhanhu’s Gambit will delve into the journey of Sun Da and his role in the conflict between the Wu Lin and the Blackstone Legion. Players will be able to enjoy a limited-time game mode and a variety of customization items and rewards themed around the event, including orders, arcade quest, outfits, weapons, effects, emotes and ornaments.

The new limited-time game mode introduced during the event, Emperor’s Escape, will let players re-live the escape of the Wu Lin Emperor from the Blackstone Legion in the aftermath of their conflict at Qiang Pass. In this four-player PvE mode, players will have to escort the Emperor and protect him against hordes of enemies to secure his escape. To do so, players will need to capture zones in order to move across the map. Every time a zone is captured, the Emperor progresses to that zone, and a new one is unlocked for capture. As they progress through the zones, players will come across increasingly strong assailants, including “cursed” enemies with special modifiers. Teamwork and skill will be key to keep the Emperor alive until players can eventually reach and defeat the Blackstone commander.

From now until January 6, players can purchase the Zhanhu’s Gambit Bundle at 45,000 Steel per Hero, which includes items such as outfits, emote, effects, and ornaments. CI Games Releases 'Traveller's Guide to Siberia' Video

It’s not often you get a trailer that’s as seemingly random as this ‘Traveller’s Guide to Siberia’ one for Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts, yet still proves to be very informative.
From the ‘freedom of wandering’ to describe the open world nature of the game, to the way it shows you to get elevated positions ‘where the whole world lies beneath’ for sniping, this is a guideline to a successful mission.
The open-world FPS is slated to hit retail November 22nd on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Crystal Dynamics Releases 'Marvel's Avengers' Game Overview Video

A new video from Crystal Dynamics, the development team behind Marvel’s Avengers, was released today that delves into some of the areas gamers have been asking about, like gameplay, mission variety, and character customization.
So far I’m loving the sounds of it, with single player Hero Missions that are part of the campaign and Warzone Missions that can be taken on with up to three friends – or you can choose to go it alone. I had a blast soloing some of the group content in Destiny, so I hope Marvel’s Avengers has the same sort of ‘super challenging, but doable if you’re careful’ setup for the Warzone Missions.
And if not…I can always invite some friends.
Also super exciting, at least for Hulk fans, is a shot of Joe Fixit. Outside of the Professor Hulk, he’s hands down my favourite of the jade giant’s iterations so I’m happy to see he looks great in the game.

GAME OVERVIEW VIDEO DELVES DEEPER INTO MARVEL’S AVENGERS

In a new video released today, the Crystal Dynamics development team provides a deeper dive into Marvel’s Avengers gameplay, story, AIM narrative, mission variety, Super Hero customization, and much more.
Marvel’s Avengers offers players a truly rich experience, with a combination of Hero Missions and Warzone Missions. Hero Missions are single-player only and are part of the overall Campaign. These Hero Missions are designed to showcase each hero’s unique abilities as you reassemble them to your growing roster. Warzone Missions can be played solo or with a group of up to four players as any Hero in your roster. Each mission dynamically scales based on the team size and player level.
Players in Marvel’s Avengers will also be able to customize Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a number of ways. While each Super Hero will play true to their unique power sets, each will have the flexibility to play different based on the gear you equip and the skills you enable. Finally, in case you missed it, earlier this month we revealed that fan-favorite Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel, is the latest playable Super Hero in Marvel’s Avengers. Players begin their journey as Kamala Khan and learn the origins of her extraordinary powers. As the story expands, Kamala plays an essential role in bringing the disbanded Avengers back together. 'Dead by Daylight Nightmare Edition' Bundles Together the Scares

If you haven’t given asymmetrical multiplayer (1 player vs a team of 4 players) horror game Dead by Daylight a chance yet now’s the perfect time thanks to the Nightmare Edition, which bundles the game, three DLC chapters: Stranger Things, Curtain Call, and Shattered Bloodline, a cosmetic pack, and a slew of add-on DLC as well.
I’m a huge fan of the game, which is incredibly creepy when you’re playing as a survivor and a mix of strategy and action when you’re the monster. When you get a read on how the survivor team plays and figure out their next move before they make it…sublime.

Lil Wayne is a Terrible Teammate in New Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint Trailer

I never thought I’d find a teammate less reliable than Brock McLaughlin, but here we are.
To be fair, I don’t know what kind of teammate Lil Wayne is when he’s playing video games in real life, but I imagine this more or less nails it and you just can’t have that in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Though you’re welcome to go it alone if you want, the upcoming shooter from Ubisoft lives or dies on teamwork when you’re taking on the toughest missions. You can see for yourself in the open beta, which runs September 26-30th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Just find someone more reliable than Lil Wayne.
The game hits retail October 4th.

LIL WAYNE STARS IN TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON® BREAKPOINT LAUNCH CAMPAIGN DIRECTED BY DAVID LEITCH

Open Beta Announced for September 26

MONTREAL — September 18, 2019 — With just weeks to go until the highly anticipated release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint, Ubisoft is kicking off the game launch with the release of a new live-action trailer starring Grammy Award–winning artist Lil Wayne and directed by David Leitch of Minted Content.
The live-action sequences were shot in Vancouver, Canada, directed by David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2) and produced by Minted Content in Los Angeles. Ubisoft worked with San Francisco–based agency Argonaut on the development of the concept and overall creative direction and execution of the “Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” campaign.
“More than anything, the key point of all action is to tell a story, and in this spot we’re telling a story with these characters in the world of the game and also the characters in their worlds at home,” said David Leitch. “We wanted to make sure we have these distinct characters that jump off the page and that the action defines them in a real, particular way. We have this fun juxtaposition with the different characters and their voices, too, which is a great conceit.”
The “Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” television ad will air nationally to promote the launch of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and can be seen during key television moments, such as Thursday Night Football on October 3 and WWE SmackDown on October 4.
Ubisoft also announced that an open beta will take place September 26–30 on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC. The open beta will be an invitation for all players to try Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint for free, ahead of the worldwide launch on October 4.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available October 4 on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, Windows PC and Uplay+, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will also launch on the new gaming platform, Stadia™.
