YAGER’s ‘The Cycle’ Season 3 Now Available

I have to admit that I have The Cycle installed, have since the very first season, but I still haven’t found the time to get into it. I think part of that is that it looks right up my alley and I’m afraid it’ll suck up all the free time I have left, but from the looks of the third season I might have to bite the bullet and give it a shot at long last.

Season Three brings in a couple additions in trains and a new space station, but also has a boatload of player-centric improvements like revamped social features, a new crafting system, skill-based matchmaking, and esports support.

That skill-based matchmaking might make it just too tempting to fire it up, but we’ll see what the weekend brings.

Here’s the press release:

All Aboard! The Cycle Season 3 Adds Moving Trains and a New Space Station

YAGER’s competitive quest shooter gets even better with revamped social, crafting and competitive features

BERLIN  July 8, 2020 – The third season of YAGER’s competitive quest shooter The Cycle is here! Season 3 introduces a big showstopper: Prospect Station, a new social hub for all players. In this bustling space station orbiting Fortuna III, you’re free to interact with other players, grab new missions, craft items for your next match and more. Spend less time in menus in your new home away from home!

Season 3 also raises the stakes with a new setpiece contract on a moving Mag Train available on both maps. As the train loops around the environment, squads must battle to get on board and keep it locked down, forcing players to use whatever cover they can find in close-quarters combat without falling off!

There’s a ton of other new content added with Season 3 today, as well, including:

  • A total revamp of the crafting system, scrapping the old artificial resource system and streamlining it with a single soft currency for all items and mods, making it easier to manage your resources and craft what you want when you want it.
  • New starter shotgun and assault rifle, designed to help newcomers flesh out their arsenal.
  • New features for The Cycle’s competitive scene, including support for esports tournaments and the introduction of skill-based matchmaking.
  • Two new playable Prospectors: Primetime, a streamer with a flashy LCD outfit, and Ronin, a sci-fi samurai.
  • Recall Recharge: A new mechanic which allows you to recharge your recall battery, essentially letting you gain a life back if you lose it.
  • A new context-sensitive ping system for contracts, making it easier to communicate and coordinate with your squad.

Season 3 also introduces new free and premium (Gold) versions of the Fortuna Pass, The Cycle’s exclusive season pass, each offering a variety of in-game currency and rewards like weapons, skins, emotes, banners, sprays and more. This season’s free pass features over 50 unlockable rewards. The Gold pass features more than 150 rewards (including those from the free pass), as well as the two new Prospectors and special challenges and customization elements for them both.

In addition, players can claim the new “Rogue Starter Pack” for free on The Cycle’s Epic Games Store page from now until July 22. This limited-time bundle of exclusive in-game items not available anywhere else includes the new Rogue Thrill Seeker Prospector, plus a unique vehicle, melee weapon and weapon skin (total value 40 USD/35 EUR).

The Cycle is an action-packed competitive quest shooter: complete jobs, defeat hostile lifeforms, gear up with new weapons and powers, out-score other prospectors, and make it off the planet alive before it kills you. The Cycle delivers a competitive multiplayer experience where everyone can survive, but how you stake your claim can make all the difference. Form squads with friends, make uneasy alliances with strangers, or go it alone — the choice is yours!

Season 3 of The Cycle is free to play now on PC via the Epic Games Store. For more information, visit www.TheCycle.game.

Major Changes For Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Esports Program Announced

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six esports program continues to evolve and grow, with major changes announced at the Six Invitational 2020 that include the creation of a Canada Division as part of the North America region, one of four – including Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America – that will be part of the new competitive structure.
Going forward the four regional programs will run parallel seasons of four quarters, with the first three – called Stages – each concluding with a Major, where the top four teams from each region will gather to compete. The fourth quarter will be used for regional finals, relegation, and the annual Six Invitational that crown’s the world’s best team.
Here’s the press release:

UBISOFT® UNVEILS MAJOR CHANGES COMING TO THE TOM CLANCY’S RAINBOW SIX® ESPORTS PROGRAM FOR 2020 AND BEYOND

The next Pro League champions will be crowned at the Season XI Finals in São Paulo, Brazil, on May 16-17

Montreal, CANADA — February 16, 2020 — Today at the Six Invitational 2020, Ubisoft® revealed a major update of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege esports program for 2020 and beyond. Following the next Rainbow Six Pro League Finals that will conclude Season XI on May 16-17, in the Grand Auditorium, Anhembi in beautiful São Paulo, Brazil, the Rainbow Six esports scene will evolve towards a regionalized program.

While fitting into a coherent global frame, the 4 existing regions – Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific – will decide on the specifics of their regional program, whether it is their partners, their formats or the way the regional program fuels the global program. Building upon what was created over the past 4 years of Rainbow Six esports with Pro League and national tournaments, regionalizing our program is the natural next step for Ubisoft to enhance the specificities and successes of each region. It will allow for a stronger focus on local specificities and an increased diversity in the different choices of programs Ubisoft offers. All of this will feed into one exciting global race towards a qualification for the Six Invitational, the pinnacle of the Rainbow Six competitive year.

The program changes will result in:

  • 4 regional programs running in parallel during the year. A competitive year of Rainbow Six esports, known as a “Season”, will be divided into 4 quarters. The first 3 quarters will be known as “Stages”, each concluding with a Major, where the 4 best teams from each region at the end of a given stage, will gather to compete. The 4th quarter will be dedicated to regional finals and relegations, leading towards the Six Invitational that will crown the world’s best team at the end of the Season.
  • Teams involved in the regional programs will be ranked based on a new and in-depth point system that rewards sustained performance.
  • Performance in the regional programs and Majors will impact the global rankings and the teams’ journey towards the Six Invitational.

ASIA-PACIFIC

The Asia-Pacific region will include two divisions. In the North Division, the Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian programs will come together to form a single, highly competitive, online league gathering 12 teams. In parallel, the South Division will provide exciting new opportunities to the established Oceanic market along with up-and-coming regions such as South Asia. Ubisoft will commission ESLto handle the Asia-Pacific programs and events.

EUROPE

The European League will expand to ten teams and build upon what was created over the past years. The European national programs will receive greater significance and will feed into the global program, thus forging a multi-tiered esports scene, allowing players from all levels and horizons to compete. FaceIt and LiveNation will be Ubisoft’s co-production partners for the European League and events.

LATIN AMERICA

Latin America will grow from eight to ten teams in Brazil and move to an offline structure in Mexico while expanding into South America (Argentina, Peru, Chile, Uruguay). Latin America will now support three divisions (Brazil, Mexico and South America) with the intent of continuing to evolve into global competitors. The Latin American program will be owned and operated by Ubisoft and its contracted vendors in the region.

NORTH AMERICA

North America will level up the production and tournament operations across the board while continuing to champion players and community. Next year will see the introduction of the US Division, a new program with premier production and play dates. For the first time, Canada will have a place within the global competition stage with the Canada Division.

The Six Invitational 2020 also revealed the regions that will host Majors in the next 2 years:

2020

  • May 16-17, Pro League Finals Season XI: São Paulo, Brazil
  • August Major: North America
  • November Major: Europe

2021

  • February, Six Invitational 2021: Canada
  • May Major: Europe
  • August Major: North America
  • November Major: Asia-Pacific

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 Gets Huge Content Update October 15th

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 already features a huge array of content, but that’ll grow significantly October 15th with the arrival of Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle.
The update – the largest title update for the game so far – includes a slew of new things to do, including new main missions, two new classified assignments, a new PVP mode, a new specialization, and a wide variety of gameplay improvements and additions.
Sounds like there’s no better time to return to the game and knock the rust off your guns before the October 15th release!

Here’s the press release:

Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2: “Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle” will Release on October 15

Biggest Title Update to Date Includes New Main Missions, Latest Specialization, Major Fixes and Improvements, New PvP Mode and More

Montreal — October 9, 2019 — Ubisoft announced October 15 as the release date for its latest content update for the live open world game Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2. In addition, later this month, players who did not have a chance to play The Division 2 yet will have the opportunity to try the game for free.**
Title Update 6 highlights The Division 2’s biggest title update to date for players, featuring “Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle,” a variety of game improvements and a new Conflict PvP mode. Episode 2 is available for Year 1 pass holders and UPLAY+* subscribers on October 15 (October 22 for all players). All changes and improvements, as well as the new mode, are available for all players on October 15.

The latest episode in The Division 2’s Year 1 free content plan features escalation in Washington D.C. for Division Agents, as Black Tusk forces continue to wreak havoc around the city. In Episode 2, players must fight to solve the ongoing outbreak crisis. It will be up to Agents to uncover the secrets inside the Pentagon before it falls into the hands of The Black Tusk.
Content featured in “Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle” includes:
Two New Main Missions
At the beginning of Episode 2, players will investigate a transmission from a fellow Agent scouting the Pentagon for the perfusion bioreactor. Securing the bioreactor would allow Agents to replicate the antiviral samples recovered at Tidal Basin. Agents must navigate flood damage and Black Tusk forces to take back The Last Castle. After securing their safe house, players will be able to access the two replayable main missions of Episode 2
  • First Main Mission – Pentagon: Agents will discover the location of the perfusion bioreactor inside the Pentagon’s underground research facility. The Black Tusk have already infiltrated the lab and are attempting to extract the reactor.
  • Second Main Mission – DARPA Research Labs: Players must make their way through the Pentagon and into the DARPA Labs, as the Black Tusk are in the process of transporting the perfusion bioreactor through an abandoned Cold War tunnel network.
New “Technician” Specialization: Effective October 15, Year 1 pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers will instantly unlock the Technician Specialization. Players who do not own the Year 1 pass can unlock the specialization by completing a series of objectives. Additional rewards, including a signature weapon skin, are also available once the specialization is unlocked. The latest specialization includes:
  • Signature Weapon: P-017 Launcher – a multi-missile launcher. Agents can lock-on and hit up to six enemies (depending on available ammo). With a simple push of a button, six missiles are unleashed to seek out their targets.
  • Sidearm: Maxim 9
  • Skill Variant: Artificer Hive
  • Grenade Mod: EMP Grenade
Classified Assignments (Exclusive only to Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers): Agents can take on two new Classified Assignments at a Boathouse and Embassy.
  • Marina: Outcasts have been moving weapons and supplies into a boathouse on the Potomac River, which was used as a transport depot during the outbreak to move assets to the Potomac Center and Roosevelt Island. Agents must investigate and seize all the weapons they can find.
  • Embassy: A Joint Task Force helicopter filled with supplies was shot down by the Outcasts and crashed through the roof of the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C. Agents will be tasked to locate the helicopter rescue the pilot and secure the supplies before the Outcasts get there.
The latest title update also brings an unprecedented number of fixes and improvements, as well as a brand new PvP mode.

Major Fixes and Improvements
Players will see significant game improvements in The Division 2 effective October 15. These improvements were developed thanks to community feedback on game forums and following last month’s Elite Task Force workshop, during which community members visited Ubisoft Massive studio in Malmö, Sweden to share thoughts and ideas about the game. Fixes and improvements include:

  • Targeted Loot
  • Named Items overhauled
  • Crafting Changes
  • Recalibration Changes
  • Filled Brands
  • Inventory Management 2.0
  • Increased stash space
  • Rebalance of talents and weapons
  • Dark Zone Server Transfers
  • Updated Thieves’ Den Vendor
  • Dark Zone Supply Drops Changes
  • Occupied Dark Zone Ambushes
  • Normalization in Dark Zone changes
  • Conflict: Loadout Selection during map voting
  • Bonus armor visualization increased
  • Conflict: End of Match Rewards changes
  • Stored tutorials
As part of Ubisoft’s commitment to the overall fixes and improvements to the game, The Division 2’s second raid will be delayed. The additional time allows the development team to focus on the overall quality of The Division 2, while developing a raid that will better meet the standards of its players.

New Conflict PvP Mode
The new Team Elimination PvP mode pits two teams of four into a best-of-seven round battle in D.C. Rounds will end once an entire team has been eliminated or time has expired. Team Elimination provides a teamwork focused tactical experience for players. Team Elimination takes effect on October 15.
New map: The “Wharf”
The new map ‘Wharf’ is on par with previous PvP maps in terms of size and takes players to an abandoned fishing harbor. It offers tactical gameplay opportunities, through flanking routes and raised positions.
Free Weekend
Later this month, players who did not have a chance to play The Division 2 yet will have the opportunity to try the game for free.** In addition Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will be on sale, allowing players to continue the adventure at a discounted price. Those who purchase the game after the Free Weekend will keep their progression. For more information, please visit: https://tomclancy-thedivision.ubisoft.com/game/en-ca/free-weekend.

Led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with seven other studios around the world**, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is the next evolution in the open-world online shooter RPG genre that the first game helped establish. Set seven months after a deadly virus was released in New York City, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 brings players into a fractured and collapsing Washington D.C. The world is on the brink, its people living through the biggest crisis ever faced in human history. As veteran Division agents, players are the last hope against the complete fall of society as enemy factions vie for control of the city. If Washington D.C. is lost, the entire nation falls. Building upon more than two years of listening to and learnings from The Division community, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will offer a substantial campaign that organically flows into a robust endgame, to create a cohesive and meaningful experience for all types of players, helping players emphasize their freedom to make strategic choices and hone their own approach.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is available on the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will also launch on the new generation gaming platform, Stadia.

Hunt: Showdown Releases on Xbox One

Hunt: Showdown is relentlessly intense, with enemies and other players both hunting you in a remarkably atmospheric recreation of the Louisiana swamps. The game puts players in the role of a bounty hunter tracking down supernatural enemies, competing against other players to find and defeat the target.
Played either solo in as part of a duo, Hunt: Showdown ramps up the tension through the use of permadeath – though the system has been tweaked multiple times through the lengthy beta period so I’m interested to see how it works in retail.
Hunt: Showdown hits retail on Xbox One today, and is already available on PC. Look for a review soon!

Here’s the press release:

Hunt: Showdown Launches on Xbox One

Crytek’s hit online multiplayer bounty hunting game is officially out now on Xbox One

FRANKFURT, Germany – Sept. 20, 2019  Today Xbox One players can finally get their hands on the official release of Crytek’s tense and atmospheric online multiplayer bounty hunting game, Hunt: Showdown. At launch, players will also be able to grab the game’s first Legendary DLC pack – “Legends of the Bayou.” Hunt: Showdown is available on Xbox One for $39.99/€39.99, or bundled with the “Legends of the Bayou” DLC for $44.99/€44.99. The game’s soundtrack – which was released at the end of August – is available on all major digital music platforms, such as SpotifyiTunes, and Amazon Music.
“The team has really put their heart and soul into this game,” said Hunt Producer Fatih Özbayram. “We wanted to make an experience that was tense, atmospheric, and, above all, fun. We can’t wait to see what the Xbox community thinks!”
Xbox One X players can expect 1800p resolution – as well as better texture filtering, a larger texture pool, a higher quality water shader, and improved SVOTI, shadow quality, and anti-aliasing.
Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game that packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Set in Louisiana in 1895, the game boasts a mixture of PvP and PvE elements that creates a uniquely tense experience. It’s not just the monstrous targets that are a threat—it’s every Hunter on the map. In the classic game mode, a match of Hunt pits ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they race to take out gruesome beasts for a bounty they must collect and get off of the map, while Hunt’s Quick Play mode offers a shorter match for solo players to scavenge for weapons as they compete for a diminishing pool of bounty. The higher the risk, the higher the reward – but a single mistake could cost everything.
The “Legends of the Bayou” DLC gives players access to two formidable Legendary Hunter characters – the Bone Doctor and Weird Sister – plus two unique weapons, including the Copperhead, a Nagant M1895 named for the ubiquitous indigenous snake, as well as 500 Blood Bonds that can be used to customize Hunter characters. Those who already own the game can purchase the DLC alone for $9.99/€9.99.
Hunt is also available for Windows PC on Steam. For more information, visit https://www.huntshowdown.com.

Lil Wayne is a Terrible Teammate in New Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint Trailer

I never thought I’d find a teammate less reliable than Brock McLaughlin, but here we are.
To be fair, I don’t know what kind of teammate Lil Wayne is when he’s playing video games in real life, but I imagine this more or less nails it and you just can’t have that in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Though you’re welcome to go it alone if you want, the upcoming shooter from Ubisoft lives or dies on teamwork when you’re taking on the toughest missions. You can see for yourself in the open beta, which runs September 26-30th on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Just find someone more reliable than Lil Wayne.
The game hits retail October 4th.
Here’s the trailer and press release:

LIL WAYNE STARS IN TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON® BREAKPOINT LAUNCH CAMPAIGN DIRECTED BY DAVID LEITCH

Open Beta Announced for September 26

MONTREAL — September 18, 2019 — With just weeks to go until the highly anticipated release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Breakpoint, Ubisoft is kicking off the game launch with the release of a new live-action trailer starring Grammy Award–winning artist Lil Wayne and directed by David Leitch of Minted Content.
The live-action sequences were shot in Vancouver, Canada, directed by David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2) and produced by Minted Content in Los Angeles. Ubisoft worked with San Francisco–based agency Argonaut on the development of the concept and overall creative direction and execution of the “Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” campaign.
“More than anything, the key point of all action is to tell a story, and in this spot we’re telling a story with these characters in the world of the game and also the characters in their worlds at home,” said David Leitch. “We wanted to make sure we have these distinct characters that jump off the page and that the action defines them in a real, particular way. We have this fun juxtaposition with the different characters and their voices, too, which is a great conceit.”
The “Squad Up ft. Lil Wayne” television ad will air nationally to promote the launch of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and can be seen during key television moments, such as Thursday Night Football on October 3 and WWE SmackDown on October 4.
Ubisoft also announced that an open beta will take place September 26–30 on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC. The open beta will be an invitation for all players to try Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint for free, ahead of the worldwide launch on October 4.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available October 4 on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, Windows PC and Uplay+, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will also launch on the new gaming platform, Stadia™.
