EVERSPACE 2 Hits Early Access And Games In Development January 18

ROCKFISH Games struck gold with EVERSPACE, a single-player space shooter that used roguelike elements to keep gamers coming back, but they’re not content to just mine the same vein with the sequel.

Instead, the indie developer will be moving to an open-world space shooter design for EVERSPACE 2, and will be using fan feedback to influence the ongoing development via Early Access on Steam and the GOG Games in Development program.

The Early Access launch will include HOTAS support, for those with flight sticks, allowing even better control over your chosen craft. EVERSPACE 2 might be a year or more out from full release, but the game looks gorgeous and – based on hands-on time with early preview code – plays very smoothly as well.

EVERSPACE 2 Early Access Set for January 18, 2021 

Alongside the upcoming Steam Early Access launch,  EVERSPACE 2 will also arrive on the GOG Games in Development program.

Hamburg, Germany – January 5, 2021 – ROCKFISH Games has announced their highly anticipated upcoming single-player space looter shooter EVERSPACE 2 will arrive in Steam Early Access and the GOG Games in Development program on January 18, 2021. Priced at €37.99 / $39.99 / £31.99, the game will launch in English with professional voice acting for the first 12+ hours of the story campaign and several side missions that take place in the first two star systems of the final game. The initial version will be good for at least 25 hours of gameplay, while introducing pilots to EVERSPACE 2’s core gameplay mechanics of space combat, exploration, mining, puzzle-solving, traveling, trading, itemization, crafting, ship customization, player and companion perks as well as five different player ship subclasses.

The full version for PC, including Mac and native Linux support, will be released at a reasonably increased price in the first half of 2022 and come with UI and text language support for German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.  

“After multiple rounds of community testing by some 2,000 players, and great feedback from various gaming outlets and content creators on the closed Beta, EVERSPACE 2 is ready for Early Access. We can’t wait to receive feedback on the initial release version from space game enthusiasts on Steam and GOG,” says Michael Schade, CEO & co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “Of course, the game is far from being finished. On top of the two star systems EVERSPACE 2 pilots will be able to explore in Early Access at launch, we plan to have four to six more as well as several additional player ship subclasses beyond the Interceptor, Sentinel, Striker, Gunship, and Scout at launch, to be gradually added on a quarterly basis. In the final game, players will also be able to enjoy twice as much story content plus lots of worthwhile endgame activities. We look forward to working closely with our community over the course of the next 12 to 18 months to make an outstanding narrative-driven open-world space looter shooter.”

Also, due to high demand from hardcore space simulation fans, the Early Access version of EVERSPACE 2 will offer fully configurable HOTAS support and presets for popular Logitech and Thrustmaster joysticks hardware setups. 

EVERSPACE 2 can be wishlisted on Steam where the initial prototype version of the game is also available as a free demo. On GOG, the game can be wishlisted here.

EVERSPACE 2 Hits Stretch Goal In Dramatic Fundraiser Finish

Just shy of 8,000 backers pushed EVERSPACE 2’s fundraising campaign past ‘fully funded’ status and then past the first stretch goal just minutes prior to the campaign’s end. It was a thrilling, if somewhat stressful, finish for the development team, as the game was still short of completing its funding requirement just 24 hours before the campaign’s end.
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the passion and confidence our fans have shown,” remarked Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games, in a statement. “We are well aware that this is not to be taken for granted nowadays and would like to express our deepest gratitude to all supporters once again.”
Hitting the stretch goal means the development team will also be working on The Ancient’s Rift, what sounds like an endgame challenge that tasks players with surviving for as long as they can to unlock rewards, loot, and experience.
The game will be arriving on Steam in Early Access in 2020. It will be making the leap to consoles at some point in the future.

EVERSPACE 2 Hits $560,069 USD On Kickstarter With First Stretch Goal Unlocked

The Kickstarter campaign for EVERSPACE 2, the ambitious open world space shooter by ROCKFISH Games, ended successfully with $560,069 USD pledged by 7979 backers after an epic final sprint. With only minutes before the end of the campaign, the first stretch goal “The Ancients’ Rift” was reached as well.

Hamburg, Germany – November 8, 2019 – The Kickstarter campaign for EVERSPACE 2 with a funding goal of $493,000 USD – by far the most ambitious video game crowdfunding campaign from Germany this year – ended after a thrilling end rally bringing in $560,069 USD from a total of 7979 supporters. After the initial campaign goal was reached in a brilliant final sprint, the first stretch goal “The Ancients’ Rift” was unlocked only 22 hours later, only minutes before the campaign ended. Thanks to this stretch goal, daring space pilots can look forward to extra valuable loot and increasingly difficult challenges in the end game.
Backers who supported the EVERSPACE 2 Kickstarter campaign at the Standard Edition or above levels can look forward to playing the prototype version of EVERSPACE 2 which has been shown at numerous gaming events. This prototype version is expected to be released to backers in mid-December 2019. The Hamburg-based team is currently adapting the prototype for PCs with different performance levels and graphics options to provide the best possible player experience even at this early stage.

Parallel to the successful conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign, the enormous general visibility of EVERSPACE 2 on the internet, especially on Twitch and YouTube as well as on social media, and a massive sales promotion of its predecessor including all DLCs on Steam, generated a further 20,000 Steam wishlist entries for EVERSPACE 2 in the last four weeks.

EVERSPACE 2 Kickstarter Crosses 60% Funded

Developers ROCKFISH Games new open-world space shooter EVERSPACE 2 has passed the 60% funding mark, with 11 days still to go in the Kickstarter campaign.
Backing the game on Kickstarter will grant access to the beta on Steam later this year. I’ve had the chance to go hands on with the beta and it’s really amped up my desire to play the full game. The beta, which features only 1/10th the star systems that the final game will have, was still a lot of fun to blast around in – and that’s with only three available ships, all from the medium fighter class. The full game, with over 100 ships to collect and fly, will provide games with a ton of playtime.
I’m a huge fan of the photo mode, which lets you freeze time and move the camera to whatever position you want, and it’s going to allow gamers to get really creative and capture some amazing pics. I captured these after playing with the camera for a few minutes – people who put some time into it are going to get just ridiculous results.

Over 100 Ships And The Meaning Of Life In EVERSPACE 2

The independent developer ROCKFISH Games reveals new details about the game’s story as well as the player ships in EVERSPACE 2 in their first two vlogs of the Kickstarter campaign, which has reached 60% of its financing goal after just a little over half of its term.

Hamburg, Germany – October 24, 2019 – After three weeks, the Kickstarter campaign for EVERSPACE 2, the new open-world space shooter from independent developer ROCKFISH Games, reached more than 60% of its EUR 450,000 (~USD 500,000) funding goal: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rockfishgames/everspace-2.
In addition to significantly improved graphics, a much larger game world and persistent player progression, the Hamburg-based studio continues to have an open ear for community suggestions by placing a high emphasis on extended storytelling and a vast selection of player ships as indicated by the recent announcements on the background story and modular design of player ships in EVERSPACE 2.
Building off the change from the predecessor’s roguelike game mechanics to open-world gameplay with classic RPG elements, the story of the campaign with around 20 hours of playing time is also moving into focus. The hero’s journey will continue as a clone pilot from the previous game, and fans can also look forward to meeting a few familiar faces. The circumstances, however, are completely new: the hero’s motivation is not just to save the entire galaxy, but to search for the purpose of life and his own place in society. The creative team took inspiration from sci-fi film classics like Blade Runner, The Sixth Day and video games like Detroit: Become Human, which all deal with the subject of what it means to be human.
The entire game world of EVERSPACE 2 will also be more lively and differentiated. Outlaws will organize themselves into individual clans, which will differ from each other both visually and in their technological development. Assisting in the design of one of these outlaw clans, including a portrait of the boss, is one of the top Kickstarter rewards with only two left. Fiction will also play an important role in the EVERSPACE 2 space opera: all kinds of fantastic creatures will cross the player’s paths. Some of them even so gigantic that they could devour entire spaceships whole.
ROCKFISH Games is also adhering to wishes from the community with a multitude of new player ships. In addition to an open game world, space game enthusiasts can look forward to a larger selection of spaceships with extensive possibilities for individualization. Featuring  primary, secondary and tertiary colours as well as the vessels’ insignia, various ship hulls, wings, engines and extentitions can be unlocked and interchanged in a multitude of combinations. The medium fighter class will be supplemented with a light and a heavy class, which will differ considerably in their abilities. Well over 100 different player ships will be available in the final game. Naming and designing one of these ships is another Kickstarter reward. 13 fans have already fulfilled their dream of becoming a spaceship designer, which leaves seven rewards available as the campaign is halfway over.
“In developing the campaign, it was particularly important for us to not only pick up the story from the acclaimed first part of the series, but also that our characters gain more emotional depth and multi-faceted motivation. We put a lot of time and effort into the storytelling and also have support from top storywriter Joshua Rubin to ensure the narrative quality of the 20-hour campaign to reflect our increased ambitions,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “In addition to the much more extensive story in an open-world, the role-playing elements and the loot system, one of the biggest features in EVERSPACE 2 is the modular system for an almost infinite number of different player ships that still don’t look arbitrary and also offer different playing styles and extensive customization options.“
Early access of EVERSPACE 2 on Steam is currently scheduled for September 2020, with the full version for PC, PlayStation® 4 and Xbox One scheduled for release in the second half of 2021. Backers of the Kickstarter campaign will receive the demo version of EVERSPACE 2 via Steam later this year.

The website for EVERSPACE now has a countdown clock and a quick thanks to the fans and intro to…whatever is next. It sounds interesting, an open world with persistent progression? I’m in.
