New HITMAN 3 Location Revealed

HITMAN 3 - Under the Hood (Chongqing Location Reveal)
HITMAN 3 arrives January 20th, 2021.

Agent 47 will be returning to China in the upcoming HITMAN 3, taking to the streets of Chongqing – a southwestern Chinese megacity with a population of over 31 million.

Presumably a few less after he arrives.

Whatever the body count turns out to be, at least those neon-lit environments are going to look good thanks to the Glacier engine – especially on next-gen (is that current-gen now?) machines, which will get 4K resolution at 60 fps and HDR support.

You’ll also be able to visit past locations from the franchise, with the ability to import locations from previous games in the trilogy – giving you a total of 20+ environments all in one spot.

IO Interactive hasn’t let us down yet, so I’m looking forward to taking a shot at this one when it hits shelves, January 20th, 2021. The game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles, as well as Stadia and PC. Switch owners can look forward to the game being delivered via cloud streaming technology, much like the recent release of Control: Ultimate Edition.

Here’s the press release:

HITMAN 3 reveals new location – Chongqing, China

IO Interactive’s new ‘Chongqing’ location fully showcases Glacier technology

Chongqing is a new location for HITMAN 3, taking Agent 47 to the rainy, neon-lit streets of a Chinese transportation hub packed full of shops and food stands, all crammed into tight streets – with plenty of secrets off the beaten path. Chongqing is also the destination to showcase improvements and refinements coming to HITMAN 3’s technology.

Powered by IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier engine, HITMAN 3 will look, sound and play better than ever with improvements to lighting, reflections, animation and AI. Chongqing also features full water effects, with details such as rain drops hitting Agent 47 and his clothes getting wet, all adding to the immersion of experiencing HITMAN 3.

On next-gen consoles, HITMAN 3 will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR support. The latest ‘Under The Hood’ trailer showcases this brand new location with smooth new gameplay moments that show off the refinements to interaction animation and AI, as well as Glacier’s crowd technology that will allow up to 300 NPC’s in a location at once.

HITMAN 3 players can import locations from the previous games in the trilogy and have more than 20+ locations under one roof. All of the improvements to rendering, animation and AI introduced with HITMAN 3 can be enjoyed across all three games, making HITMAN 3 the ultimate place to play the entire World of Assassination trilogy.

HITMAN 3 will be available on 20 January 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC. HITMAN 3 will also be coming to Nintendo Switch, playable via cloud streaming technology.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Story Trailer Released

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hits shelves November 10th on a slew of platforms including next-gen, and Ubisoft is ramped up the hype levels today with a story trailer.

The trailer introduces the backstory to Valhalla as well as teasing exactly how the Assassins figure into this Viking tale… I can’t wait to dive into the game’s combat, and I hope it’s as fleshed-out as the last few games have been.

Taking a break and revamping the game for Assassin’s Creed: Origins couldn’t have been an easy decision to make but it’s certainly proved effective. The game has hit all-new levels of immersion and interaction, with engaging combat and a progression system that keeps players coming back.

Couple that with Ubisoft’s now-trademark ongoing support for their games and it makes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla an easy recommendation for those picking up next-gen systems this November.

Here’s the press release:

Review – Destroy All Humans!

Destroy All Humans! originally came out in 2005 and was hilarious. Running wild through the streets taking out civilians, government agents, and the military was a blast.

Destroy All Humans! – newly remastered – is now available and in 2020 it feels like a breath of fresh air. We’ve been under pandemic restrictions here for a month, month and a half, and I needed a break just like this.

As Cryptosporidium-137, a tough-talking alien clone who’s a mix between Jack Nicholson and Dirty Harry, I’ve roamed the mid-sized open world levels blasting civilians, scientists, buildings…you name it, I’ve blasted or probed it – sometimes both, and I’ve loved every minute of it.

The main missions are fun, but it’s the side quests – optional in nature – that add some replay value. You’ll want to nail those down to get all your upgrades for your ship, weapons, and abilities.

This isn’t a great game, but it never really set out to be. It just wants to be a fun game you can turn your brain off for, and it’s a huge success at that. It’s a B-level game that apes B-movies and I love it to death for that still, 15 years later.

That said, some of the jokes fall pretty flat these days. There’s nothing that’s overtly offensive, but it was a product of its times and times have changed a lot even before the pandemic hit.

Though they didn’t touch any of the content, every other aspect of the game was polished to a shine in this remaster. The graphics are the equal of that ‘this is what it looked like back then’ vision I had of the game with my nostalgia goggles on, which is really saying something. Going back and looking at old footage and comparing the two is kind of jarring – it not only looks better now, but it also runs a lot better as well.

Destroy All Humans!, as I said before, isn’t a great game, but – if B-movies can transfer to the gaming world – it might be the best B-game ever made and remastered.

What I Loved:

  • Stellar upgrade – this is a top-notch remaster
  • Tons of upgrades
  • Fun weapons
  • Fun everything!

What I Liked:

  • Some really funny stuff here
  • Never had side quest mission variety like this before…

What I Disliked:

  • Some jokes that don’t land 15 years later
  • I wound up wishing it was longer

What I Hated:

  • Nothing

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Trailer Brings The Heat

If you watch this trailer and don’t get a real strong sense of the excellent Vikings TV show that’s been running since 2013, you probably haven’t seen the TV show – rectify that immediately.
Ubisoft’s newest Assassin’s Creed title, subtitled Valhalla, will be releasing Holiday 2020 on current and next gen consoles, and the setting looks amazing. The game looks to be another in the RPG line that Origins started it down and Odyssey expanded on, with the ability to choose a male or female lead and tons of customization options.
I’m really looking forward to this one, expect to see a lot more on it soon.

Here’s the press release:

Become a Legendary Viking Raider in Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla

Montreal — April 30, 2020 — Today, Ubisoft announced that the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed® franchise, Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla, will release Holiday 2020 on Xbox Series X, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Stadia, and for Windows PC exclusively on both the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. The game will also be available on UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service*.

Developed by the team behind Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag® and Assassin’s Creed® Origins at Ubisoft Montreal,** Assassin’s Creed Valhalla invites players to live the saga of Eivor, a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory. Offering a captivating Viking experience, the game brings players to a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. In this latest iteration, players can take advantage of new features including raids, growing their settlement, building their power and expanding their influence.

“We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them,” said Ashraf Ismail, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.”

Players will be able to choose to play as either a male or female Eivor, and will have access to customization tools including the ability to customize hair, tattoos, clothing, war paint, and gear. Political alliances, combat decisions, and dialogue choices can influence the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so players must choose wisely to protect their clan’s home and future.

Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor’s clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before. To secure resources, players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and supplies. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons, including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.

Additionally, the Gold, Ultimate and Collector’s editions*** of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla were announced along with Ubicollectibles products:

  • The Gold Edition will include the base game and the Season Pass.
  • The Ultimate Edition will include the base game, the Season Pass and the Ultimate Pack, giving players access to exclusive customization content: the Berserker Gear Pack, the Berserker Settlement Pack and the Berserker Longship Pack, along with a Set of Runes to improve weapons or gear.
  • The Collector’s Edition will include the base game, the Season Pass, the Ultimate Pack, a high-end Ubicollectibles replica of Eivor and her longship (30 cm high), a Collector’s Case, a SteelBook with unique artwork, a numbered certificate of authenticity, a Viking Statuette of Eivor with his raven and Dane axe (5 cm high), exclusive lithographs as well as a selected soundtrack of the game. The Collector’s Edition is available exclusively from the Ubisoft Store.
  • The stand-alone Ubicollectibles products will include the Eivor Wolf-Kissed Figurine and his Hidden Blade Replica.

Fans who pre-order**** Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive an additional mission at launch, The Way of the Berserker, in which players will join a legendary Norse Berserker on his quest for revenge.

Square Enix Announces Pair of Special Editions For Marvel's Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers had a rocky debut, thanks to the leak of low-quality offscreen footage, but it’s grown on me since then and – with a delay to September 4th to polish it up – I’m increasingly looking forward to trying it out. Heading out into a Warzone mission with up to three friends, each with our own customized heroes? Sounds like it might be a good time to me.
Square Enix is looking to get fans to lock in pre-orders, with the release of some tempting special editions: Earth’s Mightiest Edition and Deluxe Edition, as well as a PS4-exclusive version.
The Deluxe Edition grants an exclusive Obsidian Outfit pack of six hero outfits, six exclusive Obsidian nameplates, and 72-hour early access to the game. This version, as with the standard version of the game, is available for digital pre-order now in the marketplace of your choice.
The Earth’s Mightiest Edition provides a 12″ Captain America PVC statue, a Hulk Bobblehead, a Mjolnir keychain, the Black Widow’s belt buckle, Iron Man’s prototype armor blueprint, and Kamala Khan’s honorary Avenger pin. Given the physical nature of the extras, obviously this one is going to be found in brick and mortar stores, but I haven’t seen them go live just yet.
Pre-order any edition of the game and you’ll also get guaranteed access to the upcoming beta, an exclusive nameplate, and the Marvel Legacy Outfit pack, which features costumes from the moments each hero first embraced their powers.
There’s also a PS4-exclusive Digital Edition that grants a Ms. Marvel emote, a dynamic theme, an exclusive Ms. Marvel nameplate, and 1,000 credits for customizing your hero. This edition also includes 72 hours early access to the game, and access to the PS4 beta.

Square Enix Releases Marvel's Avengers Official A-Day Gameplay Footage

Check out the official gameplay footage from Marvel’s Avengers, a much better quality version of footage that’s been floating around the Internet since it was first unveiled at San Diego Comic Con 2019. Keep in mind this is from the prologue, so don’t expect to see everything the game has to offer.
Marvel’s Avengers is a third-person action-adventure game that’s not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but draws from that real-world-hero setting. The game opens five years after A-Day, the unveiling of a new high-tech Avengers Headquarter and helicarrier in San Francisco. A catastrophic accident (or sabotage?) during the unveiling ended with massive destruction and the Avengers, blamed for the events of A-Day, were disbanded and heroes outlawed. But now, five years later, the world needs heroes again…
Gamers will need to rebuild the Avengers through a single player campaign that rebuilds the roster and builds their powers, and then continue the game in a post-campaign world either solo or with friends in four-player co-operative play.
With hero customization in the form of unlockable skills, gear, and a selection of costumes from their comic past as well as newly designed ones, Marvel’s Avengers should keep comic fans happy for quite some time. The game has an ongoing narrative planned that spans years, including new heroes and game environments at no additional cost, so longevity shouldn’t be an issue at all.
Marvel’s Avengers is slated to hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. It will also be hitting Google’s new Stadia streaming service the same day.

E3 2019 – Watch Dogs: Legion announced

The Watch Dogs franchise looks to take a giant leap forward with Watch Dogs: Legion, announced for PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Google’s new Stadia gaming platform.
The new game is slated to hit shelves March 6, 2020, and will allow gamers to recruit and play as literally anyone in the game’s population. The stage show was incredible, and if they can hit those targets this should be a very special game.
Here’s the press release – and be sure to check out the video of the presentation.

Watch Dogs®: Legion Introduces Gameplay Innovation Enabling Players to ‘Play as Anyone’ in Near-Future London

MONTREAL – June 10, 2019 – Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft® announced that Watch Dogs®: Legion, the newest installment of the blockbuster Watch Dogs® franchise will be available worldwide on March 6, 2020 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Windows PC. Watch Dogs: Legion will also launch on the new generation gaming platform, Stadia

In the near future, London is facing its downfall: people are being oppressed by an all-seeing surveillance state, a corrupt private military corporation controls the streets, and a powerful crime syndicate is preying on the most vulnerable. In Watch Dogs: Legion, the player’s mission is to build a resistance to fight back against the emergence of an authoritarian regime.
Thanks to a never-before-seen gameplay innovation created by Ubisoft Toronto*, the studio behind Watch Dogs: Legion, players will have complete freedom to ‘Play as Anyone.’ Every Londoner in the open world is fully simulated, with a persistent life and backstory, and players can recruit anyone from the entire population into their team. From an MI5 agent to a tough bareknuckle fighter, from a brilliant hacker to an illegal street racer, or from a rising football star to a geriatric grandma, anyone can join the resistance and become the hero of the story.
Every character also has unique gameplay traits, based on their profile. Once they join the team, players choose their class, level them up, and unlock new abilities and upgrades. They can easily swap between them and approach the challenges of the game the way they want using hacking and drones, stealth, melee or combat, lethal or non-lethal.
In Watch Dogs: Legion, the players’ choices have real consequences. If non-lethal force is used, the enemy will attempt to subdue and arrest the player. But if the player shoots to kill, their characters could be wounded or even permanently killed.
In Watch Dogs: Legion, players can even bring their unique team online and team up with their friends in four-player co-op, while sharing their progression between single-player and online.
In addition, Ubisoft announced the Gold, Ultimate and Collector’s Editions** for Watch Dogs: Legion:

  • Gold Edition includes the base game and the Season Pass.
  • Ultimate Edition includes Gold Edition and Ultimate digital content, including four weeks VIP Status to earn experience and currency faster.
  • Collector’s Edition includes the Ultimate Edition plus the LED Ded Coronet Mask Replica, an exclusive Steelbook®, a set of three stickers and a recto-verso propaganda poster, all inspired by the game’s universe, and instant access to the mask in-game. Collector’s Edition is exclusive to the Ubisoft Store.
Fans who purchase the Gold, Ultimate or Collector’s editions will be able to get the game up to three days early from the standard release date. Fans who pre-order Watch Dogs Legion will receive access to the Golden King Pack with the “Uneasy Lies” Mask Skin, the “Serpent Sisters” Pistol Skin and the “Lux” Car Skin.

Moreover, Ubicollectibles revealed Watch Dogs: Legion: Resistant of London, its new figurine inspired directly from the world of Watch Dogs. This 26 cm figurine shows a DedSec operative in an iconic pose, wearing either the Winston mask or the King of Hearts mask (as two switchable masks will be included) and stepping defiantly on an Albion mercenary’s helmet as a proud member of London’s resistance. This piece holds a burnt Black Jack flag, the symbol of the city’s decay. On top of that, a unique ULC code that unlocks the in-game mask “King of Hearts” will be included for free.
Watch Dogs: Legion will also be available on Uplay+, Ubisoft’s subscription service for Windows PC. More details on Uplay+ can be found on Uplay.com.***
