Photo Mode Coming to The Waylanders In Second Winter Update

The Waylanders started out Early Access in really good shape, but the team at Gato Salvaje Studio continues to follow their pre-release road map with the second of three planned winter updates.

This update will bring with it a photo mode, easily my favourite non-gameplay addition to any game. The mode looks slick, and I’m eager to get my hands on it.

In addition to improved character origins, today’s update includes an all-new photo mode to allow players to capture the sweeping vistas and mythical locations scattered throughout The Waylanders.

The Immersion Update is the second of the three planned updates for The Waylanders this winter. Team as shown on the game’s Winter Roadmap. Coming updates planned for January will continue to implement community feedback, and add localization for the game in Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Russian, and Galician.  

Currently available in Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development program, The Waylanders is set to release on both platforms in Spring 2021. More information about the game can be found on The Waylanders website.

‘Community Update’ Provides Sizable Improvements to The Waylanders

The Waylanders, a party-based roleplaying game (RPG) from Spanish indie developers Gato Studio, has just released a new update with sweeping changes to combat systems and a rebalancing of equipment stats.

The game had my attention as soon as it was announced it would have five base classes and 30 advanced classes, and the continued improvements to the game – currently available as part of the Steam Early Access and GOG Games in Development programs – are keeping that interest.

The latest update, dubbed the ‘Community Update’ because it pulls heavily from feedback and bug reports made by players, sees the dev team review every encounter in Act 1 of the game based on that feedback. But while balance changes will make battles more challenging, they’ve also revamped the full equipment list in an across-the-board change that drops max level from 25 to 10.

If that sounds like a nerf, it’s anything but as equipment keeps the same range spread, so every level is now a much more sizable boost. They’ve also changed the stat names from Intuition and Logic to the more easily understood Offensive, for those affecting damage of attacks and abilities, or Utility, for those that affect healing and damage over time.

Having trouble understanding how some abilities work? There’s been additional information added on that front as well, to help players make the best use of each action.

All that, plus over 150 bugs fixed? If you haven’t checked out The Waylanders yet, maybe it’s time. It’s on sale for 15% off on Steam until January 5th.

Star Renegades ‘The Imperium Strikes Back’ Update Offers Early Christmas Present For PC Players

Star Renegades, a tactical roguelike from Massive Damage Inc, gets a massive update on PC just before Christmas, bringing PC players a whole lot of new toys.

In addition to a new planet, the update offers a handful of new enemies including three adversaries, two behemoths, and a new drone type.

Console players will have to wait for the update until early 2021. The game is currently available on PC, Switch, and Xbox One – it’s available via Game Pass for both Xbox and PC, is also expected to arrive on PS4 in early 2021.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Gets New Mode In Title Update 11

Ubisoft continues to expand on The Division 2, with Title Update 11 set to hit hard drives worldwide on September 22nd. This update will be adding a new mode “The Summit” as well as adding armor transmogrification, improving loot, and making serious – and seriously welcome – changes to how mods work.

The update also adds a new mode: The Summit. This pits agents, either solo or in squads, against 100 floors of action in a high-rise just packed full of enemies. Make it to the roof – you can use Rally Points as checkpoints to resume the action if you can’t dedicate entire days to this encounter – and you’ll fight a special battle.

TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION® 2 WARLORDS OF NEW YORK ANNOUNCES NEW MODE “THE SUMMIT” AS PART OF UPCOMING TITLE UPDATE 11

Montreal  September 10, 2020 — Today at Ubisoft’s pre-show prior to its digital press conference, Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft announced that a new game mode is coming to Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 Warlords of New York, “The Summit.” The new mode is part of Title Update 11, which will go live on September 22. As part of TU 11, Season 3 will begin with a new manhunt, and major improvements will be made to the game’s core features. While The Summit and Season 3 are available for Warlords of New York owners, the game improvements will be available for all players.

Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 is available on the Xbox One family of devices, including the Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC, as well as on Stadia and UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service.*

The Summit (Warlords of New York Players)
Playing in squads or solo, The Summit will take Division Agents to a high-rise building, where they can scale up to 100 floors of action. Players will face different challenges and enemies on each floor as they progress toward the rooftop, where a special battle awaits. Using Rally Points (permanent checkpoints), players can also choose to focus on select sections of the building. This allows them to play at a preferred difficulty level and be rewarded accordingly for their efforts. The Summit will bring a new way to experience The Division in a single mode and offers high replayability as each attempt will be different. TU 11 will release on September 22 on all platforms for free. 

Season 3 (Warlords of New York Players)
Also, on September 22, the third season of The Division 2 Warlords of New York will be available with a new manhunt. Players will target Bardon Schaeffer, the elusive leader of the Black Tusk as he recruits four disavowed agents to form and lead a new rogue cell. They will earn new gear and rewards as they progress through the season.

Seasons are part of the Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York expansion and are a series of three-month long narrative-driven mini campaigns.

Players can also expect a familiar face to return for Season 4. More information to come at a later date.

Major Improvements (All Players)
Core changes and major improvements will be introduced as part of TU 11. These changes were tested on the game’s Public Test Server from September 4 to September 10.

Main Title Update 11 improvements:

  • Appearance Mods – or Transmogrification – is a new system to the existing character menu for The Division 2. Players can change the appearance of their gear beyond the normal dye and coloration.

    Masks, backpacks, kneepads, gloves, holsters and all armor gear will be changeable. Appearance Mods will allow players to finally get the specialized look they always wanted or change the style of their setup.

    Appearance Mods will become a mainstay of the game for all players, Level 1-40.
  • The improved ‘Rainbow’ loot will bring an update on how gear is assigning the first attribute on a gear piece. The first attribute will now have a percentage chance to roll the same as the core attribute. Players will experience less rainbow loot, meaning that items for a skill brand (Wyvern) are more likely to roll a skill-related attribute.
  • With Agnostic Mod Slots, all gear pieces will change (mask, chest, backpack) to accept any gear mod type. This means players can add some armor regen into their pure red build without sacrificing a recalibration on the mod slot.

Backward Compatibility
Today, The Division 2 also announced that the game will be backward compatible on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation® 5, allowing you to play The Division 2 on the new generation of consoles. In addition, the game will be cross-play compatible with next-gen consoles. This means Agents on PlayStation 4 can battle it out with Agents on PlayStation 5. Players on Xbox One can also take on Agents on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

PVE Crossplay For All ‘World War Z’ Players, Starting Today

World War Z was a surprise hit when it launched last year, and the development team at Saber Interactive have kept that momentum up by releasing a steady stream of updates, the latest of which – the Dronemaster update – hit today and brought some major changes to the game.

First off, players on any platform can now party up thanks to full PvE crossplay being enabled for the first time. Now it doesn’t matter if your friends have a PS4 and you play on PC or Xbox One, you can finally get your game on with them.

The update also includes a new class, the first new class to be added to the game since it launched, the titular Dronemaster. This new class includes a customizable drone that stuns nearby zombies and can be geared towards either offensive or support roles.

Want more? How about a new weapon, a grenade launcher for taking out those pesky packs of undead? The ACW-20 is a low-caliber semi-auto launcher that should prove extremely effective against the horde rushes, but keep those friendlies back from the blast area…

Green Hell Crosses One Million Sold; Gets Major Updates

Survival game Green Hell has come a long way since its first appearance in Early Access, with developers at Creepy Jar pushing out numerous updates to help the player experience. Their most recent updates added optional co-op play to the story mode as well as new construction options, and just for fun they also implemented the often-requested Achievements.

All that support has paid off, with the game crossing the one million sold mark, but there’s still more to come. A new PVE mode is on the horizon, along with the eventual release of the game on the PS4 and Xbox One.

Achievements, Story Mode Co-op, and New Stands Wrap Up Green Hell’s Latest Round of Updates

Green Hell also celebrates a milestone of 1 million copies sold!

Free Update Adds New Character to Children of Morta

Children of Morta getting a free update is news, but not unexpected – it’s had a couple of updates since launch. A new character? Ok, that’s certainly more newsworthy but plenty of games do that.

How about a new character that was designed by two of the game’s Kickstarter backers?

I think it’s awesome that not only did they make a character that fills a need, but they changed the backstory of the character from ‘standard videogame fare’ of being an orphan to something that fit the game’s lore more.

Children of Morta Adds New Playable Character, Apan, Designed by Two of the Game’s Kickstarter Backers

The Bergsons’ House free update invites a new sister-in-arms — a mighty medic and firm defender rolled in one — into the family

Warsaw, Poland – June 24, 2020 — Children of Morta is an action-RPG all about the bonds of the courageous Bergson family, but that doesn’t mean the Bergsons’ home is a place where fellow adventurers aren’t heartily welcomed. 11 bit studios and Dead Mage are proud to present another free update to their indie hit, introducing Apan – a seventh playable character joining the party.

Apan – known as Clan Mother in her homeland – came from the far north of Mount Morta. She is as skilled in providing vital support for companions on the battlefield as she is in wielding a sturdy staff. Her weapon’s reach makes Apan perfect for delivering deadly mid-range strikes, her special Asva Pulse dash ability leaves opponents hindered in the dust, and her spells cover a large area of effect. In defence, all of the Bergsons can take advantage of Apan’s medical knowledge as she also boosts the effects of healing potions, and a new mechanic lets the family gain shields from items, abilities, and Apan’s Rage skill. Simply put, Apan’s presence makes them all stronger, especially in battle.

The exciting new character design was created by one of Children of Morta’s Kickstarter backers and his partner, who both believed in the project since its very early stages. Here’s what these backers – known as AgaRar and GlueBubble – had to say about the idea that inspired the Apan’s creation, “The idea for Apan came from the brainstorming of myself and my partner. We originally made her an orphan, but later changed her to a mother to better compliment the Children of Morta story and family theme. A strong leader of nomadic healers who allies herself with the Bergsons to aid them in their fight against Corruption. We hope that our inspiration, and Dead Mage’s hard work, translates into a character that you all will enjoy for years to come.”.

The Bergsons’ House free update is available on all platforms: Xbox One, PC (Steam, GOG.com, Humble Store), PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The free update contains:

Patch 1.4 Drops For Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a third-person action/survival hybrid that I liked – see review here – even though it had a little bit of a rocky launch on PC, but saw marked improvements added before it hit console – a trend that’s continued on.
The latest patch – up to version 1.4 now – adds a number of fan-requested changes, including loosening the requirements for evolution and making injured clan members easier to locate.
Here’s the patch notes:

  • Controller vibration support: gameplay actions will now be accompanied by a vibration.
  • New visual feedback on timing-based gameplay like combat and miscellaneous actions.
  • New RPG nodes to automate some clan life tasks, especially mating and bonding.
  • Simplified evolution requirements.
    You no longer need to pass a generation to evolve. The only requirement now is to have an evolution mission available to evolve.
  • “End game” update. After final evolution:
    • All feats and fulfillment are revealed
    • Each completed or unused feats are displayed as done
    • Each completed or unused fulfillment during the last attempt are displayed as completed
  • Fishing and pokable holes now require proper timing for success
  • New mud item to discover
  • Branch and thorn bush walls can now be deconstructed
  • Precious stones have new properties for you to discover
  • Failing a groom can make you lose bonding points
  • Clan members will help reduce dopamine consumption in fear zones
  • Clan members can take and add items in stashes
  • Clan members can pick up items that are on the ground
  • Clan members react to player’s discoveries
  • Additional items added under liftable rocks
  • Bleeding clan members are now highlighted in the clan HUD
  • Balancing of the fear/dopamine values
  • Pierced coconuts will no longer auto drop after having drunk their water

  • Fixed moon phase desync in time HUD
  • Fixed an issue where elder females could be pregnant after a generation change

Terraria Hits 30 Million Units Sold

How do you celebrate becoming one of the best selling games of all time? Well if you’re Terraria, you release a major patch that brings the console version up to feature parity with the PC AND drop a YouTube video that shows new players how to survive and even thrive in their first few days in-game.

 
I’ve played a bit of Terraria and I have to admit that I could have used that intro to the game’s systems back when I started. With thousands of items to craft, the game can be fairly overwhelming at first.

Publishing partner H2 Interactive will bring Terraria to players in Korea for PlayStation 4 digitally on Friday, April 3.  Spike Chunsoft will publish the 1.3.5 update Terraria for PlayStation 4 in Japan at a date TBC.

Fans of Wolfenstein: Youngblood should fire the game up again today to check out the 1.0.7 update that adds an entirely new endgame mission, Treasure Hunt, as well as new maps, abilities, enemy types, and much more.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood Update 1.0.7 Released

MachineGames and Arkane Studios Lyon today released Update 1.0.7 for Wolfenstein: Youngblood, bringing with it the new Treasure Hunt mission, new maps, new abilities, new enemy types, new Pep Signals and more.

  • New Mission: Treasure Hunt – Studying the artifacts from Lab X has revealed the location of a second Da’at Yichud chamber. The Nazis who have already staked their claim in the chamber have been unable to unlock its secrets, maybe a couple Nazi hunting badasses can unlock the mysteries inside? This is an endgame mission with a suggested player level of 40, so players can expect a challenge!
  • New Mission Type: Treasure Maps – Once you tackle the Treasure Hunt mission, players will unlock the ability to see Da’at Yichud Artifacts within the game world. Locating a number of maps scattered about will unveil the location of an artifact, granting players a number of rewards.
  • New Abilities – Whether you take the new Silent Killer ability to stealthily slip back into cover after an assassination or the Resilience ability to be able to shirk off explosive damage, 1.0.7 brings players several new abilities to work into their playstyle.
  • New Enemy Types – Take on the new teleporting Wurmlochsoldat, turret-mounted Turmhund, and the Electrodrohne Tesla drone while you search for the newly revealed Da’at Yichud chamber.
