Baldur’s Gate 3 Expected to Hit Early Access in August

Despite the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Larian Studios still expects Baldur’s Gate 3 to hit Early Access in August of this year. Shifting to a work-from-home setup isn’t ideal, but the studio says they’ve pulled it off successfully and are hopeful of hitting their targeted release.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the sequel to legendary PC RPGs Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II – which released in 1998 and 2000, respectively – with an all-new development team. Expectations are high, but with Larian Studios being the brains behind the Divinity: Original Sin franchise it seems like the game is in capable hands.

Check out the trailer and get ready to go hands on in just a few short months…maybe.

DUBLIN  June 13, 2020 — Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to launch into early access this August… maybe. While Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to take shape, today’s new trailer demonstrates the mood and tone of the game, which has pushed Larian’s lauded RPG talent into an entirely new level of depth and ambition.

Announced in June 2019 during the final E3 conference, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a sequel to CRPG legends Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II, bringing the series into the modern era with AAA production values, including fully cinematic dialogue, cooperative multiplayer, and authentic gameplay based on 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons.

Larian also released a new community update video today hinting at changes that have come to the game since its first showing at PAX East 2020 earlier this year. Fans can find out even more about the game during D&D Live 2020: Roll w/ Advantage, hosted on June 18 at

Com Update 3:

COVID-19 has impacted the Larian team as it has many people around the world, but the shift to work-from-home has gratefully been a successful one, allowing Larian to continue building toward an early access period of (maybe!) August. Larian will have more information about the specific content of early access in the future, but the team is committed to working directly with community feedback to evolve the game during its early access campaign.

Spellforce 3 Expansion ‘Fallen God’ Adds Trolls

I hate to admit it but Spellforce 3 is one of those games I just didn’t have time to jump into back when it launched in 2017 but looking at the trailer for Fallen God, the new standalone expansion that adds an all-new playable faction of trolls, maybe it’s time to give it a shot because this is a hot looking RTS/RPG blend.

The expansion includes an all-new singleplayer campaign that has multiple endings depending on your choices, and the game sports a host of new features for returning players, including weapon salvaging/crafting and character customization for your own character and companions via character shaping – where the decisions you make influence your companion’s skills and abilities.

There’s no release date set for the title yet, aside from a somewhat nebulous ‘2020’ but you can check out the details here on its Steam page.

Here’s the press release:

Let’s Troll: New Standalone Expansion for SpellForce 3 – Fallen God Introduces the Trolls

Vienna/Austria and Munich/Germany, June 6th – When the gods have abandoned you, there is only one hope for salvation: Find a new god! This is the conclusion Akrog, chieftain of the Moonkin trolls, comes to. He leads his clan through the continent of Urgath, struggling to survive. The player’s mission is to guide the new playable faction, the trolls, through an all-new 15-hour long singleplayer campaign. SpellForce 3 – Fallen God is a standalone expansion and can be played without having played any SpellForce game before (but we would encourage everyone to do so!)

Steam Store Link:

New features for the singleplayer campaign include:

  • Salvaging of weapons to craft superior equipment for your tribe and your heroes
  • The new character-shaping mechanic, adding true replayability value (see below)
  • Multiple endings for the campaign, based on your decisions
  • Character shaping throughout the single-player campaign:
  • The choices you make in the campaign affect your companion’s skills and abilities. Plus they can contribute to the story through their own decisions, based on how you previously shaped their character.
  • New playable faction: The Trolls. With their nomadic behavior, Trolls have a different playstyle than all other factions in SpellForce 3
  • A new continent to explore: Urgath is full of mysteries and adventures for you and your heroes to discover.
  • All-new soundtrack to underline the beauty and mystery of the new continent
  • Full Steam Workshop integration and advanced modding tools

Multiplayer Features:

  • Introducing Ranked Play: Compete with other SpellForce players in a 1:1 ELO-based ranked system, and become the champion of SpellForce
  • Six different playable RTS factions: Humans, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Dark Elves and Trolls – each with their unique troops and heroes
  • Create your own maps with the powerful modding tools and share them with the community

About SpellForce 3: Fallen God

Your dwindling, nomadic tribe of trolls has just one goal: survival. Plagued by vicious poachers who are after your precious tusks, and weakened by disease, hope is almost lost – until an enigmatic Elven stranger offers you, the young chieftain Akrog, a path to salvation: you must resurrect a fallen god.

  • The perfect blend of RTS and RPG: SpellForce 3: Fallen God combines RTS and RPG gameplay for an exciting blend of storytelling and epic real-time battles
  • Standalone game and story: Fallen God is a standalone expansion to SpellForce 3. You don’t need to be familiar with the story of SpellForce 3 or SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest to jump right in
  • Single-player campaign: Featuring the dark, enthralling story of the long-misunderstood Trolls and their battle for survival, with a playtime of around 15 hours
  • Customize your heroes: Combine skill trees and abilities to create the perfect heroes for your strategy
  • Explore a new continent: Discover Urgath and solve its mysteries using unique hero interactions with the world
  • Craft powerful weapons: Salvage legendary weapons and armor from other races to give your Trolls the edge in battle
  • Lead your army to victory: Hone your battle strategy in an improved sector-based RTS system

Red Wings: Aces of the Sky Takes Flight On Nintendo Switch

Red Wings: Aces of the Sky has arrived on the Nintendo Switch, with Story, Survival, and Vintage (available after beating the campaign) game modes for players to mow through. With 50 story-driven campaign missions set in the air above the battlefields of World War II, split across two campaigns that see you fly on both sides of the war, gamers can look forward to blasting a ton of planes out of the sky.

The game reminds me a lot of Crimson Skies, only with a cel-shaded look to it, and I’m all about that. Available now on Nintendo Switch, Red Wings: Aces of the Sky is also slated to come to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Trailer Brings The Heat

If you watch this trailer and don’t get a real strong sense of the excellent Vikings TV show that’s been running since 2013, you probably haven’t seen the TV show – rectify that immediately.
Ubisoft’s newest Assassin’s Creed title, subtitled Valhalla, will be releasing Holiday 2020 on current and next gen consoles, and the setting looks amazing. The game looks to be another in the RPG line that Origins started it down and Odyssey expanded on, with the ability to choose a male or female lead and tons of customization options.
I’m really looking forward to this one, expect to see a lot more on it soon.

Here’s the press release:

Become a Legendary Viking Raider in Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla

Montreal — April 30, 2020 — Today, Ubisoft announced that the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed® franchise, Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla, will release Holiday 2020 on Xbox Series X, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Stadia, and for Windows PC exclusively on both the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. The game will also be available on UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service*.

Developed by the team behind Assassin’s Creed® IV Black Flag® and Assassin’s Creed® Origins at Ubisoft Montreal,** Assassin’s Creed Valhalla invites players to live the saga of Eivor, a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory. Offering a captivating Viking experience, the game brings players to a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. In this latest iteration, players can take advantage of new features including raids, growing their settlement, building their power and expanding their influence.

“We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them,” said Ashraf Ismail, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader, players will face the conflicts of establishing a new home in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.”

Players will be able to choose to play as either a male or female Eivor, and will have access to customization tools including the ability to customize hair, tattoos, clothing, war paint, and gear. Political alliances, combat decisions, and dialogue choices can influence the world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so players must choose wisely to protect their clan’s home and future.

Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor’s clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before. To secure resources, players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and supplies. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons, including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.

Additionally, the Gold, Ultimate and Collector’s editions*** of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla were announced along with Ubicollectibles products:

  • The Gold Edition will include the base game and the Season Pass.
  • The Ultimate Edition will include the base game, the Season Pass and the Ultimate Pack, giving players access to exclusive customization content: the Berserker Gear Pack, the Berserker Settlement Pack and the Berserker Longship Pack, along with a Set of Runes to improve weapons or gear.
  • The Collector’s Edition will include the base game, the Season Pass, the Ultimate Pack, a high-end Ubicollectibles replica of Eivor and her longship (30 cm high), a Collector’s Case, a SteelBook with unique artwork, a numbered certificate of authenticity, a Viking Statuette of Eivor with his raven and Dane axe (5 cm high), exclusive lithographs as well as a selected soundtrack of the game. The Collector’s Edition is available exclusively from the Ubisoft Store.
  • The stand-alone Ubicollectibles products will include the Eivor Wolf-Kissed Figurine and his Hidden Blade Replica.

Fans who pre-order**** Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive an additional mission at launch, The Way of the Berserker, in which players will join a legendary Norse Berserker on his quest for revenge.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker Developer Diary: Episode One Released

There are a lot of games out there that simulate jobs now, from simulating farm life all the way to being a professional truck driver, but none are quite as far out as Hardspace: Shipbreaker which drops you into the gravity boots of a zero-g spaceship salvage operator.
The development team dropped the first episode of their developer diary series today, along with news the game game will hit Steam Early Access, June 16th.
Here’s the press release:

New developer diary series goes behind the scenes of Focus Home Interactive & Blackbird Interactive’s upcoming zero-g spaceship salvaging sim

PARIS  April 21, 2020 – Blackbird Interactive and Focus Home Interactive have announced that the first-person zero-g spaceship salvaging sim Hardspace: Shipbreaker will enter Steam Early Access on June 16. To celebrate, the team today released the first episode in a new developer diary series diving into the making of this very unique game.
This first episode introduces you to Hardspace: Shipbreaker’s gameplay and universe, where you’ll use cutting-edge tech to carve up massive vessels in outer space to recover valuable loot for the corporation you’re indebted to. Cut up ships however you choose, slicing panels, fuel lines, hull infrastructure and more — with each choice, Hardspace: Shipbreaker responds dynamically to your actions, creating new potentially explosive physics objects to manage.

Although best known as the studio behind Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and the upcoming Homeworld 3, developer Blackbird Interactive was inspired by the real history of skyscraper construction and rig workers to create a sandbox game with a blue collar atmosphere and true-to-life physics. Blackbird’s recent collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory on Project Eagle, an interactive demo of how a future Mars base might operate, further fueled the drive to deliver a creative demolition sim that feels playful yet complex and lived in.
Hardspace: Shipbreaker will arrive in early access with a variety of exciting features, including the first act of the story campaign, two classes of spaceship to chop up, and multiple upgradeable tools and perks. Throughout early access, the team will release new ships, missions, challenges, leaderboards, modding support and more based on feedback from the community.
You can wishlist Hardspace: Shipbreaker now on Steam. The game is also in development for PlayStation®4 and Xbox One.

Microsoft Releasing Cyberpunk 2077-themed Xbox One X

When Cyberpunk 2077 hits shelves this fall, Xbox gamers can take in the cyberpunk goodness on a limited edition console. I’m not sure that enhances the experience, but the console does include the game so that gets you at least part of the way and I have to admit that it’s a pretty slick-looking piece of hardware.
Here’s the press release:

Cyberpunk 2077 meets Xbox One X in custom console!

CD PROJEKT RED announces the upcoming release of limited-edition, Cyberpunk 2077-inspired Xbox One X console

Created in collaboration between designers from CD PROJEKT RED and Microsoft, the limited-edition, 1TB console encapsulates the urban decay and vibrant tech of Night City. Its design features glow-in-the-dark elements, custom decorative panels, LEDs, color-shift effects, and textures — all evoking numerous facets of Cyberpunk 2077’s dark future setting.
The console comes with an Xbox wireless controller uniquely inspired by the character of Johnny Silverhand, featuring a half natural, half cyber-enhancement chrome design. Available as part of the bundle later this year, the controller can also be purchased separately right now at select retailers, including the Microsoft Store.
Bundled alongside the console and controller will be an Xbox One digital download code for Cyberpunk 2077 and other surprises that will be announced soon. Additional details regarding the bundle and controller are available on the dedicated website.
Cyberpunk 2077 will release September 17th, 2020, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with the version for Google Stadia set to launch the same year. For more information regarding the game, follow FacebookTwitter, and visit
